The NEW (2011) PR System One
Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
Sounds like cpap.com is issuing the new ones at this point too which is also a good sign.
Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
My BiPAP has a manufacture date of 20101203. Software version is 2.01. It appears to have all the new features. The only thing I haven't tried is looking at the screen while using the machine. It definitely has the back-lit screen, but I don't' know if it's accessible during use.

Hi Builta,
I also have the new one, and am not sure which setting to use for the hose. Your post is the first time I saw it mentioned on here. It is not in the manual I have. What setting is used for the special hose that comes with the machine and what setting is a standard hose ?
Thanks,
Don

If you go to the respironics web site, you can download the manual that has the information in it.
I think that you should have received the "white" highly flexible Respironics "Performance" hose with your unit. It is a 22mm hose. I checked and CPAP.com does not have the 15 mm hose yet. So, I bet that it is a future item that isn't released yet.
On Page #20 of the "PR1 BiPAP Auto" User's Manual (new version mine is dated 9/28/2010), it describes pressure drops and air delivery volumes for the different hoses. Depending on our unit this might be on a different page. The system, as it is normally delivered, is set for a standard 22mm hose. You can change it if it isn't locked out in the "Provider's Menu." There is information about Tubing Size in the User's Manual in the Setting's Section (page 11 in my BiPAP Auto manual).
Looks to me like the "default" is 22mm hose setting and you only change it to 15 if you get the "special" 15 mm hose. I don't have a 15mm hose so, I cannot provide any additional insight (other then I bet that they will charge a premium for the narrow bore hose).
I think that the new Resmed has a "special" narrow bore hose and it look like Respironics is following up with their own version at some point.
Let us know if you find one (and how much it costs!)

Is this new version really better? A backlit screen in Spanish is not going to help me much since I can't glance at it without glasses, and I don't speak Spanish. I also never saw the "old" PR S1 as noisy - it's quiet - and if anything it hums me to sleep.

I just got one two days ago, it's my first cpap machine. It's V2.02
Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
Backlit screen and Spanish are two different things. The back lit screen makes it much easier to read even in the daylight. On my old one, I sometimes had to use a flashlight, even with the room lights on. Now I never have to use a flashlight.jonquiljo wrote:Is this new version really better? And the Spanish is just a language option. Mine is set up for English, which is by far best for me, since it's the only language I speak
I never thought of my old one as noisy, either. But this one doesn't seem much different than my last one, at least to me.
Edited to add: my "old" one was less than a year old....I switched from apap to bipap

Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
I have the newest model. Nothing to compare it to, since it is my first, but I love this little machine. Extremely quiet...in fact, the only "noise" is the air blowing out of my mask vent. Received mine from my DME in late January and he told me it was the newest machine they had. No complaints with my DME thus far. Firmware on mine is v. 2.02 Love looking at my data with the software.
Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
I have to tell you, I had an early 2010 PR1 SystemOne BiPAP-Auto (purchased from CPAPAuction.com) that had a bad clock (or dead battery or something.) It worked but wouldn't keep meaningful tracking information. Every power outage would reset the clock to some weird date.
I used it for a week and I can tell you that it was noticeably louder then my M Series Bi-PAP Auto. The clock issue was not acceptable-for me. I took it in to a Local DME and they were kind enough to sent it in for repair and I received a new version (date Code 02072011) about a week later.
This new unit, the updated PR1 SystemOne BiPAP-Auto, is the quietest unit that I have ever used.
I've had, the "old tank" Respironics REMStar Bi-PAP Auto, two M-Series Bi-PAP Autos, a Resumed VPAP, a Fisher/Paykel 608 and the original PR1 unit that I sent in. Plus of course various units used during sleep studies.
My spouse, and other "CPAP" friends all agree that the unit is very quiet. It is quiet even when I really pull a fast deep breath. They have done a good job here.
So, there is my "two cents" on the quiet issue.
As for the back light, I think that it is wonderful. I can check things without needing a flashlight! All that I can say is that Respironics has listened and made some needed improvements with this latest release of the PR1!

Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
Thanks Builta,
Yes mine was set to 22MM as a default and I have the new flexible hose that came with it. Just wanted to hear from someone that it is set for the hose that comes with it. I bought mine at auction, but it was new with 0 hours. It is the Auto but not BiPap. Sounds similar except for the Bilevel settings. But the manual I downloaded previously did not have these new settings.
Thanks
Don

Go and download the manual from the Respironics site again. The RemStar Auto (Pr1 CPAP-Auto w/A flex) manual dated 9/21/2010 has the information on pages #9 and 19.
Here is a link to the manual: http://respironicsremstars.respironics. ... Manual.pdf

Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
I have firmware V2.01 and it does have a backlight for the screen, however, it does not light the screen while in therapy mode. It does light up when you turn the knob while it menu mode. Has anyone seen the backlight while in therapy mode? Sometimes it would be helpful to be able to see what pressure your at when you wake up during the night.blakepro wrote:
Also, does your screen light up so you can read it at night? Thats the biggest giveaway.
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
Apart from Jedimark who imported, has anyone in Australia seen the new version issued yet?
I'm getting a replacement under warranty and I'm wondering if there is any chance of getting the new one. (Not particularly hopeful).
Thanks

Re: The NEW (2011) PR System One
This is a great thread with valuable info for me. I read months ago that Philips Respironics was working with Bose to solve the noise level. Very glad that this has resulted in a much quieter CPAP.
I have a question for builta, which is out of context but relevant to me. you bought that BPAP from CPAPauctiion but when you want to repair this, you have to go to a DME. How is the DME's reaction? Do you need to explain where you got this CPAP from? Do you have to pay some fee since this is not registered with that DME?
Thank you for your sharing of info
