Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
Anyone else have this problem. I have installed ResScan and inserted the SD card into my SD drive but ResScan says "there are no devices available for downloading data".

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
You need to check whether you can "see" the SD card from Windows. It should show up as a drive in Windows Explorer (Computer, or My Computer Icon on your desktop) and you should be able to open up a directory of the files on the card.360 wrote:Anyone else have this problem. If you can't "see" it from Windows, neither can ResScan
Cheers,
Bill
Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
Yes, I can see it in in Windows but ResScan is not recognizing it.

Are you opening ResScan 1st, then plugging your SD card in?

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
It shouldn't matter weather you put the SD card in first or not. If your using windows 7, as soon as you insert the card it asks if you want to open the file viewer. if you then open ResScan it automatically opens the download manager.

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
I'm running XP and I tried it both ways, doesn't seem to acknowledge it both ways. I also tried my other PC and which has an SD reader on the printer and again it shows up and I can open the file, just can't get ResScan to see it.

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
I'm using an S8 AutoSet with the ResLink module, which uses a SmartMedia card instead of an SD card, so I don't know if this applies, but when I insert the card into the PC reader and open ResScan's dowload screen, it sometimes takes a bit for the card to appear in ResScan. I just wait and the "no devices available ..." message changes to show the presence of the card.
SmartMedia, by the way, is an older format of memory card that is rapidly going away. I bought a few extra cards on eBay just in case my card dies.

Bill, I believe he has 3.12 since it was the one I directed him to in Uncle Bob's signature just yesterday.billbolton wrote: What version of ResScan have you installed?

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
Correct 3.12. One thing I did think about was that I did check the boxes to install the card reader drivers in case I ever used that type of reader. I wonder if ResScan is looking for one of them vs. searching my computer for an SD card?

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
This happens to me all the time, but I "resolve" it by quitting Rescan. I assume you've tried that.
I notice it happens most often when I didn't have a "patient" file open when I insert the card.
This is what I do to keep that bug at bay.
1. Start ResScan
2. Open my patient file
3. Insert SD card (note I've copied the files off the actual SD card and onto another one, but that seems not to affect things)
4. Wait for ResScan to close my patient file (argh!)
5. Escape out of the "download data" dialog because on windows 7 the buttons to do anything are hidden and there is no default enter or double click action (double argh!)
6. Re-open patient file
7. Wait a minute, ResScan is slow (triple argh!)
8. Click "Download data" start the transfer
9. Wait. (quadruple argh!)
10. Click "Discard" when it tells me there is duplicate (unless there's some extenuating circumstance where I did multiple sessions in a day and got the data for the first one already.)
I find that if I skip #2 it will get into this infinite loop of prompting me to download but not letting me open any patient file and claiming there's no card when I cancel, open a file and initiate download. Immediately after telling me there's no device, ResScan auto-detects the card and closes the file and prompts, again... deja vu all over again.
I hate Windows software.
You'll excuse me while I go write my own scripts to bring EDF+ files into R.

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
Yes, it most likely is. I recommend going into Control Panel -Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the drivers. You may also need to uninstall ResScan. Re-boot your computer, then try it again.360 wrote:Correct 3.12. One thing I did think about was that I did check the boxes to install the card reader drivers in case I ever used that type of reader. I don't remember the 3 labels for the drivers, but I'm fairly certain that installation of one of them causes ResScan to not even look for an SD card in another device.
Note: Unless a Resmed device is being used to connect to the machine (either a Resmed direct connection/usb adapter or a Resmed card reader) none of the drivers are needed. If you need one of them later, all you have to do is go to (assuming WinXP) C:\Program Files\Resmed\ResScane\Drivers and run the installer for whichever drive is needed.

Hi, I have the ResScan program icon both at the Start column and at Desktop.
My laptop runs on Windows XP Internet Explorer #8
I use two SD cards that I got from my DME. They need to be formatted per Resmed. Or be free of any other data.
I take the SD card from the S9 and stick it into this Sony reader from Staples:
http://www.staples.com/Sony-USB-Memory- ... rea=SEARCH
Next, I stick the reader with the SD card, in it, into USB slot in my laptop
Next, I click on a ResScan icon. (if the SD reader is not in the USB then the ResScan asks for data from the flow generator)
(To validate you can click: Start, Computer, Removable disk, that the SD is pluged in)
I never loaded any ResScan drivers, I assume that they are inside the Windows.
I downloaded the ResScan program from here:
viewtopic.php?p=474698
see uncle-bob's links
I gave a fictitious name for myself as a patient
I do overwrite when downloading
I daily save the reports which show up as PDF files on the left side under Browser
(The only problem that I have is how to post here in the forum portions of my report without going to a hoster site)

Re: Can't get ResScan to see SD Card
I've unistalled and reinstalled 3.13 with no driver and I still get the "there are NO devices available for downloading data" message. I've tried closing patient files, re-opening, etc. and nothing seems to help. I'm I going to just need to buy a USB reader and go that route?

Assuming that you explicitly un-installed the drivers first and re-booted, I'm at a bit of a loss. What OS are you using?
