Well I'm very sorry about your son - really, but while I can understand, it still doesn't mean the whole country has bad health care, and it doesn't even mean it's all a political problem. There are many issues involved and just wholesale labelling the system wrong because one area isn't working (though of course it should), is pointless, doesn't help anything. And using a term "social welfare" as if it's a dirty word is wrong... what do you think it means? It means no more or less than the welfare of our society, neither right, left or anything else. Should we not care about the welfare of our neighbours and the rest of the country? WE came in and destroyed the natives way of life in the north, now we're having to pay for doing it, though not nearly as well or as fast as we ruined it in the first place. Should people in need not be cared about? It's like the old story where someone blows off all the different groups of people who come for help, and when it's finally their own turn to need some, there's no one left to give it! If you want to live in isolation and protect your money, be prepared for the other side of that - being alone when you need help.

well said Julie

I live in Manitoba. Yes sometimes there is a wait to see a doc but I think that is like that all across Canada.

The problem in Manitoba is doctors don't get paid as well as some other providences pay there doctors. New doctors come in and leave right away for greener pastures.
