It's the daily wet T-shirt contest.

It means "we've been there and done that". People ofen buy T-Shirts of the place that they go to while on vacation, hence the expression, "Been there, done that and have the T-Shirt to prove it."

I'm going to guess that you are not from America. In America, a lot of times when people go somewhere they buy a T-shirt as a souvenir. The T-shirt usually has some print on it, often with words, telling something about the place. It might just be the name of the place you visited.

Several years ago, a saying developed that said, "Been there, done that, got that T-shirt." It means, loosely, that the person has not just a passing familiarity with something but has fully experienced it.

The saying has been shortened to just the last item, "got that T-shirt".

I hope that is what you were looking for.

I AM SO SORRY! I did not mean to make you feel silly. I just couldn't imagine that anyone living here had not heard that expression before. That was dumb of me. There are all kinds of expressions out there that I have not heard and would have to ask about.

You know, I was going to comment in my original post about how excellent your English is. Now that would have been funny, with the joke on me!!

I am from America and have only heard it expressed as "Got that shirt" or "been there done that, got the shirt don't want the hat".

It's been around for ages. But this is the first time I have seen it expressed as T-shirt.

How is my English?

Oh my gosh.. PLEASE do NOT feel silly for your reply. I actually thought it was funny. No harm done. I really really appreciate this board and love it here. I know that I can ask the silly questions and get the answers that I need with no judgement. Thanks again for taking the time to help me understand what it means. )

Don't feel silly. There was a time, a few years ago, when someone was selling CPAP related T-Shirts.

Correction - The shirt says "World Champion Yankee", Sir.
