Trial of new machine and need Encoreviewer

Post by allen476 » Sat Aug 21, 2010 11:30 am

Well I was given a PR System One Bi-Pap Auto to trial for a month. As it stands, if the insurance company continues to squabble over it, I might have to return it. According to the screen, I am doing OK but really would like to look at the card through Encoreviewer. I was wondering if any one could lend me or send me a copy of EV 2.0. I don't want to spend the money yet if I don't know if I can keep the machine. Buying the machine itself if the insurance company won't pay for it is out of the question as well. If I do get to keep it, then I will buy the software. Why can't Repironics make an Encoreviewer Lite and have it free to the public, kind of like Devilbiss does with the smartcode.

Actually, Smart Code on the DeVilbiss is only compliance data. You are looking for full data, and that is unlikely to happen since there is a disclaimer on the software that is it supposed to be only for doctors and DME's use!

Can you have your DME give you an early printout? Just be sure to ask for more than just the compliance.

The DME is 2 hours away. I have to mail them the card next week. According to them, the insurance company still hasn't approved the machine. I would like to look at the data myself so that I can see if I am doing better (or worse) each day. However spending $99 right now on something that I might use for a month is kind of pointless. I am on disability until late September at the earliest and can't afford the $99 right now as well.

My vision for Encoreviewer Lite is a version so that you can look at the card. No saving or printing capability. They could make that a version that could be free to the public.

I agree that the data in the smartcodes are limited but it does give leak,AHI, etc. Right now all I have is 7 day averages. Not daily.

Please don't misunderstand my other post. How could I have known your DME is that far away? Mine comes to my house. Get another card then mail this one? Just brainstorming.

fwiw - Because w/o the software and reader the therapy is INcomplete.

In fact, Gumby has a dream that one day the manufacturer will provide a USB Flash Drive with the software, on the drive, required to read the machine data included with the machine. I have a Dream... Gumby

Sorry, I didn't mean it to come out that way. Just me.

I use them as they are a very nice DME. NO hassle's, no headache's. The RT will talk to you and understands why I want to look at my data. The first time in this long journey that 2 doctors and the DME's RT understand that. Just getting fustrated at not being able to see the data and I know that when I have to send the card in that I will lose all of the data that is on it. Someday the manufacturers will understand that if patients are taught what the basic data(AHI & Leak) mean, then they can help themselves. A basic viewing program for the data card should be provided with every data capable machine.

If I do get to keep the machine, then I will buy the software as I have very little choice. But for right now, I am recovering from major surgery and have another 2 major surgeries coming up - neck last week, back in November, heart in January that I need to save money for. It just seems to me that if PR really wanted to expand sales of it's machines, then include a program that would help patients. I don't care about saving the info but rather that I can at least see that I either had a bad or good night and adjust if needed. 'They could include a little DVD as well as to what the data means (If you have a high leak rate then adjust your mask, if your AHI is above 5 then you need to see your Doctor, ETC....).

I guess we share the same dream.

If you have that Intellipap listed in your profile - I thought those did come with the software.

It is (maybe was) my machine. The Intellipap doesn't come with software but relies on the smartcodes that you can input on Devilbiss website. It is helpful that if you want a basic view of the data, you can still get it without buying the $150 worth of module and software, and if you want details, then you need to buy. I used the smartcodes on the website. It provided me with the info I wanted.

Can Encoreviewer 2.0 for Remstar Pro, view the bipap data?

If so send me an email (andyw715 at gmail dot com) and you can email the files to me, I'll run them through Encoreviewer and send you back the PDF's.

SmartCode will provide a summary of efficacy data (AHI, Leak, etc..) for the IntelliPAP Standard Plus and the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust.

I now have the Encore Pro software due to the generosity of a forum member. It has opened my eyes as to the effectiveness of the bi-pap. While my AHI has increased from the Intellipap (1.2 versus a .5), the pressures are a lot less. I was surprised that my leak is around 30l/min. using an Opus 360. I thought it would have been higher than that.

I have increased the Epap to 10 to deal with the suffocation issue. Doing much better than on 7. Average Epap is 12.6 and Ipap is 15.1. Titrated pressures were Ipap 15 and Epap 10. Settings are Epap 16 and Ipap 10

I wonder if I am getting close on the settings or if I should increase the Epap to 12. I am using the machine in auto but would like to switch to standard mode.
