DreamStalker, that was too funny for words!!!
Even If you're hinting that you were badly drunk when communicating with Max, it would be better to come clean in public.dsm wrote:Mars
I was going to invite you over for a beer but just can't seem to get the front door open.
DSM
PS: Read your PM & get back to me. You have it quite wrong.
I got everything on that thread quite the way Mars did, and I'm sure others did as well. Unless you issue a public explanation, many of us will remain under the impression that you, dsm, a long time Ozzie member of the forum, with many many posts to your name, have been complaining about nationalistic bias on the forum to a rather troubled newcomer who has by now edited out all his posts on other threads -- even those in which he gave helpful advice to other's.
There have been many cpap related discussions on the forum in which members disagreed with you - and supported their disagreement on logical analysis and public documentation. I find it truly difficult to believe you considered those discussions nationalistically biased -- however, Max did imply that this is your position, you have not yet denied it, and now you're trying to explain things by PM to Mars.... bad idea.
And please don't PM me about it - please respond in public. Just to be clear: I will not consider any PM from you about this subject as private. It is a very troubling public issue, that has anyone who knows you wondering about what in the world you say in PMs as opposed to what you say in public.
The late Snoredog - a truly snappy member - said the following, with which I agree wholeheartedly (snaps snipped out):
Snoredog on the values of public vs. private discussions
Hinting that those many issue based public discussion in which you took part have had even an iota of nationalism in them makes a travesty of what your years of participation in this board and thousands of messages have been about.Snoredog wrote: <snip> this website is about therapy machines and helping people out. IF we all go to Personal Messaging (PM) then NO one learns anything from the discussion and this site would quickly become a bore like the others. <snip>
Discussions like this help everyone better understand their disorder, their machine, what works an what doesn't. It helps them weigh the pros and the cons. DO everything in PM's and you end up with BAD advice.
In PM's there is NO one to scrutinize that bad advice to indicate otherwise. In public, if I suggest something that isn't quite kosher, you can be assured there will be someone else to come along like -SWS, dsm or SAG to let not only me but more importantly YOU know it isn't right. SO in a PM you lose that scrutiny and doing so can even be dangerous. It is why I generally make it policy NOT to discuss these items in private PM's, no one learns and you get better suggestions.
<snip>
This is a discussion board, we openly discuss issues to learn from each other. It is not a medical site, it is a learning site. Spend any amount of time here participating in the discussions and you will leave with more knowledge about your disorder, more knowledge about other disorders, more knowledge about therapy devices than you can expect to receive anywhere. We are not limited in our response to any professional ethical oath although my experience here is everyone tries to honor those ethics unless you come here and try to censor our voice, for that we will glady express that you to take a hike.
Discuss it in public, gather up everyone's suggestions and opinions THEN you decide, as it is NOT our job to advise you.
While I cannot speak for the others, that is the way I see it.

This has got stupid. You are asking me to defend a position re Mars I never took.
I agree wholeheartedly with SWS when he said that the almost longest running thread currently
running is helping an Aussie. Don't go dragging me into this stupid mess.

Re: The "Never Ever Make A Post About Your Teeth" Thread
Hello Max,
When a person deletes posts for he was thanked for by other members, that is evidence that his behavior on the forum is disturbed. Because the helpful posts ou deleted could have helped other people -- and you, who deleted them, couldn't care less.
You have come to many conclusions about people on this forum, including myself, based on twhat you consider evidence youi found on the forum. Please have the integrity to let others do the same.
I have no idea have you live your life outside the forum, and don't care. I have as much right to describe my opinion of your forum behavior as you have to describe mine. or for that matter, that of other members of the forom.

Re: The "Never Ever Make A Post About Your Teeth" Thread

Mars, you should re-title the thread again to "Never Ever Make A Post About Your Teeth, then Suggest People Read Up on How Much Better the Aussi Health Care System Is then Their System (but Don't You DARE Disagree!)". A little wordy, but a lot more accurate.

What's not to like? The beer's cold and the teeth are white!
And it seems that both are in abundance. Dawn's teeth are so straight, though, I think she's had some work done.

Watch this everyone ....
So. Are Aussies always so hypersensitive and easily offended?
Oh. And one more question ...
Have I introduced you to my newest pair of friends, Elke and Wanda?
