It wont stop raining!!

Post by idzeeboo » Sun Oct 30, 2005 7:05 pm

I use a Remstar Auto w/ C-Flex and the Breeze mask and nasal pillows. Recently, colder weather has set in and I decided to turn on the integrated heated humidifier (on its lowest setting-1). By morning, enough condensation has formed to cause tiny droplets of water to spit out of the exhaust port on the breeze and hit my face. Annoying, to say the least. The odd part is that the condensation appears to be in just the last foot or so of the circuit (closest to the mask). It does not collect anywhere else but in the end of the mask and the smaller hose leading to the mask.

I read some advice on this forum and purchased some tube covers for both my 6 footer hose AND the smaller hose leading to the Breeze. With both hoses covered, it is STILL happening! I do not understand... Is there anything else I am missing?

Perhaps it is not cold enough to warrant the heated air. The ambient temp in the house does not go below 68 or 70 during the night. Maybe I just need to leave the heated part off? HELP!

The only thing I personally have ever found to completely eliminate rainout is the SleepZone Heated CPAP Tube (affectionately dubbed the Aussie Heated Hose).

Here is their website: SleepZone Heated CPAP Tube

Also, here is a link to other threads compiled by rested gal dealing with rainout:

id,

Neversleeps has swiftly pointed you to the solution...many, many of us have bought the heated hose and would not go without it.

Those hose covers make the hose less medical looking, but don't do a whole lot for the rain.

Sincerely,

Go with the heated hose and it will fix you right up. Oh - did somebody already mention that?

I love my 9 foot hose.

I sleep with the hose under the covers and I have never had rain out at any time. I am making the hose covers for this winter.

right on cue....
Tis the season.

For rainout.

The hose covers only work with very marginal situations.

The aussie heated hose is the only way to go. And for REALLY bad rainout, you might even do a double cover over the heated hose. But for most people the stock heated hose is all they need.

Its a bit pricey but a worthwhile investment.

What they said: The heated hose, and I too have to cover even that.

So far, my homemade cover is working quite well. No condensation in the mask and very little in the main hose. As I've posted before, we allow the bedrooms to get down to 61-62 degrees in the winter. It's been in the low forties and even the low thirties here for several weeks.
