need the experts for this question
i was recently taken off bipap @ 25cm and reduced to a cpap @ 11cm as a result of my most recent sleep study. its been about 2 months or so and i have noticed that with my current setup, my energy levels during the day are very low, im sleepy when i get home from work, i can sleep all day if i try and not want to wake, when i first wake in the morning i can go right back to sleep. when i was on bipap i woke with energy, could NOT ever go back to sleep because i always felt totally rested. i have to wait about a month to see my sleep doctor and i need some input here, thanks

Which Bi-PAP machine did you have? Was it data-capable?GReeNeYe wrote:i was recently taken off bipap @ 25cm and reduced to a cpap @ 11cm as a result of my most recent sleep study. its been about 2 months or so and i have noticed that with my current setup, my energy levels during the day are very low, im sleepy when i get home from work, i can sleep all day if i try and not want to wake, when i first wake in the morning i can go right back to sleep. when i was on bipap i woke with energy, could NOT ever go back to sleep because i always felt totally rested. i have to wait about a month to see my sleep doctor and i need some input here, thanks
I see that you have a non-data-capable CPAP in your profile. This is the part that's confusing......virtually ALL Bi-Level/Bi-PAP machines can be set to CPAP mode (by setting the IPAP and EPAP to the same pressure).
Sounds to me like somebody screwed up.

Re: need the experts for this question
Hi GReeNeYe, this doesn't sound good. I would recommend to see if you can get your next doctors appointment brought forward, try contacting them again and say it's urgent and you would like a closer appointment as you feel a lot worse since the changes were made in your treatment.
If you can't get it brought forward ask to speak to a doctor on the phone, they might not have vacancies to bring your appointment forward but you might be able to spend 5-10 minutes talking to a doctor on the phone who can quickly review your case.

Re: need the experts for this question
i was on a goodnight425 before, what you see in my profile is the new one. the 425 was very old so i made the decision to get a new machine.
and yes i just tried to get a sooner apointment and they are more than a month out. also no luck in talking to this doctor over the phone as i have tried before
i feel like im losing it, 4 days off from work and i did absolutely nothing but sleep

Re: need the experts for this question
While waiting to talk to the doctor, I'd raise the pressure on the CPAP machine if it were me. Even with no data to guide you, you could at least go by "how you feel" with any changes you make. You already know, from your previous bilevel therapy how you can, and should, feel.
I'd raise the pressure by 2 full cms at a time, giving each change two or three nights. I'd keep doing that until I found a pressure that helped me feel better rested.
I'm not a doctor, but that's what I'd do. I would NOT put up with what's apparently suboptimal therapy when all it might take to make things better is some more pressure.
Here's a study about people who were able to titrate their pressure themselves, at home, without benefit of data from the machine or from software:
"Can Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Titrate Their Own Continuous Positive Airway Pressure?"

"To access the provider mode screens:
Supply power to the device, first, plug the socket end of the AC power cord into the pwer supply. Then plug the pronged end of the AC power cord into an electrical outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. Finally, plug the pwer supply cord's connector into the power inlet on the back of the device.
Once the device is powered, the home screen appears (it is a large box on the screen with four little boxes you choose from by turning the control wheel). Turn the whell to toggle between teh four options and highigh "setup".
Once setup is hilghight pres and hold both the control whell and ramp button on the device for at least 5 seconds (pretty simple, considering there are only 2 buttons).
You will hear a quick double beep and the provider mode screen will appear, you are now in provider mode!!
There is a show AHI/Leak/PB option, but it has to be toggled to yes to view it."

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: need the experts for this question
thank you rested gal, i will try +2cm. last night i lowered it to 9, dont ask me why that made sense to me last night as i have never changed my pressures before but it did no good. after reading your post it makes sense to give it a try.
GumbyCT i have no idea why they took me off the bipap. i changed sleep centers and this is what they prescribed me. keep in mind that i did lose 50+lbs and stopped smoking
