I had a dream!!!

Post by melissa1974 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 7:27 am

I had a dream last night!! That's the first time (that I can remember) in YEARS that I have dreamt. My alarm woke me up in the middle of it and I was completely disoriented, couldn't figure out what in the world was going on, until I realized..."Oh, I was dreaming!!!" I had forgotten what it was like.

Just imagine if you were still holding your breath....waiting for your doc and DME to figure out how to setup your machine for you?

Just how long can YOU hold your breath?

Congrats on the dreaming. I have not had one yet. This is my first week of my recovery. i am sleeping longer than I have in years. I am thrilled with my progress so far. Reading your post is very encouraging for me to read. I am hoping I am where you are soon if my treatment is working.

Wishing you many more pleasant dreams!

pdean44,

It's wonderful that your therapy is going so well! I have kept detailed records of my machine settings, therapy results, etc., since beginning CPAP in October. I just looked at my records and see that the first dream I recalled was a few days shy of one month after beginning. And at exactly one month I stopped having to get up to go to the bathroom during the night. I see that Melissa's first dream recall was also around one month after starting therapy!

I rarely dreamed before starting CPAP, but I dream often now. They're almost all very pleasant too. I've only had one bad dream, where a dog was viciously attacking me. I woke up screaming with my mask on! It was the strangest sound!!! So there are real, measureable milestones with this therapy. Getting good-quality sleep can make such as difference!

Congrats Melissa!! I'm so happy your therapy is going well.

pdean44, I'm with DreamOn, it took me about 4 weeks to start remembering dreams. Mine were cpap related though, I was everything from an astronaut to a scuba diver in mine for a while.

I just have to say again that I am so grateful to have found this board. You are all so encouraging and supportive! I mean, honestly, who else would understand and be so happy for me that I had a dream????? I am looking forward to the day when I have enough time/experience under my belt to be able to help others who are newly diagnosed and needed help and reassurance.

Wonderful you're dreaming again, Melissa. Sounds quite strange to be so excited about this from an outsider's viewpoint, doesn't it? Kinda "so what..." They don't all get the buzz!

But it is an indication you're sleeping well, and remembering them is the icing on the cake! Well done, took me a fair while as I recall.
