Final Peace Offering to Link

Post by Autopapdude » Tue Feb 09, 2010 11:06 am

Here is my final offering to end this insanity, Link. I will not comment on any of your threads, or criticize your opinions or suggestions, whether or not I think they have credence. I will make no comments about you, either stated or implied. I am requesting that you do the same--in this way we will not compromise the integrity of this message board. I offer a complete truce, by means of ignoring each other, and our divergent points of view, and wish you well. Please offer to do the same as this board is too important in dealing with folks who have sleep issues. I think both of us can offer good experiential suggestions and comments to those here, and don't wish to continue this any longer. Let us bury the hatchet by avoidance, and in the spirit of being good Christians.

sometimes you need to see both sides of an argument or dispute (disagreement) before being able to make a reasoned decision. Wish you'd both reconsider and continue to comment, just keep it civil.

As a new member and a newbie all the way around, I have to say I hope all parties involved in this opt to bury the hatchet and start to behave in a manner that reflects positively on this forum. Some of what I have read here between some people is downright shameful.

There are a lot of people, like me, that are so new to this area of medicine and are desperate for help, information and answers. They will not get the help they need if people are more worried about being right or discrediting and insulting others.

This forum seemed so fantastic and a place I knew I could turn to to get me through the "new" phase of dealing with all of this. But if the childish antics don't stop, I guess I'll have to try to find my information somewhere else.

Please take this for what it's worth -- the comments from a new user, still feeling like an outsider, looking in. It seemed so good, but now it's not so pretty.

No it's a small cat sleeping, it's not mine. The owner maybe drugged the kitty

Or the kitty has OSA

This is the second time I've posted something and it just doesn't show up! Very frustrating.

I like your kitty too!! So very cute.

I've participated on a lot of message boards and my experience says that the nastiness will continue to crop up once it gets this nasty. I was very surprised to see it to this extent on a medical needs board.

I realize that people are going to disagree about equipment and treatments, and some people will be extremely passionate about what works for them. But I would have hoped that even "heated" disagreements would maintain a level of politeness and respect. Much of what I've seen has been anything but.

I really don't want to leave because at this stage of my treatment, I really need to educate myself to make sure my RT and DME are doing the right thing and giving me the right equipment and settings. The jury is definitely still out on that one.

I'm hoping that all parties involved will take a step back and realize that their behavior, while perhaps entertaining to themselves, is very destructive to the purpose of this board.

Sparked my curiosity because it looks like a Ragdoll breed.

Madalot,

Mind if I comment on your comment?

This forum is "lightly" moderated. Which is a cute way of saying "barely moderated at all." I very much respect the decision for it to be that way. But it means we all have to realize that the forum as a whole doesn't exactly have a collective reputation, in that there are no "members" and "nonmembers" in the classic sense of some other forums. You have to make this place what it is for you, since you belong here just as much as the first-time poster or the longtime poster champion.

A lot of stuff that happens to be said in this forum is helpful. A lot of what is said here is not. The trick is to learn the individual reputations of the posters and to take everything with a grain of salt and a healthy dose of skepticism, even from the ones with a good reputation.

What is said here often falls into the same category as "overheard on the street." So, please, Madalot, I would ask you not to avoid walking these streets just because there is occasionally some unpleasantness we all have to ignore.

Get some good help here. Give some good help here. Ignore the rest. After all, it's a public forum, so none of us can expect to avoid the public and all the good and the bad that goes along with that.

Hey Jeff --

I don't mind at all your comments about my comments --

You bring up some valid points all the way around. The primary motive behind my comments was to bring to the attention of the people participating in the unpleasantness -- that there are other people here trying to "play" within bounds of common courtesy and politeness. Their inability to "play" appropriately has a negative effect on the entire community. If people want to bicker and argue and just be unpleasant, it would be better if they took it off the boards and did it privately, rather than subject the entire community to it. And there will be lurkers that see it and decide NOT to participate because of it. That's a shame.

Just my opinion and feeling on the matter.

My dog has OSA! Look at him, he sleeps on his back and snores too. All he does is sleep and yawns all the time. I wonder if they have doggie c-paps.

I think that we can all agree to disagree at times. Just need not to take it personal. I appreciate this forum and all the different views on topics.

I think bringing religion into this has the potential to take things to a whole other nasty level. makes one want to use one's cpap to be sure to live another day to see the responses.

i love to see "good Christians" argue! snark!

Madalot, these two are a couple of light weights compared
to some that have passed through here.
They still have the heavy gloves and headgear on.
Some that have come through here were real street brawlers.
Their IP addes got blocked. There was some really ugly stuff posted.

You have to learn to sort of speed read some of these replies
and if something catches your eye, go for the detail.
Some threads you just pass on by.

I have to agree w/JNK and I hate it when that happens,
and it happens more than I'll ever admit......
but you got'a make it what it is for you.

It's a place where there's a lot more good than anything else.

It's a journey.
I'll be see'n you on down the road.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

Well, you know what they say:

"Every morning that I wake up still breathing is a good morning; every day that I allow the people around me to continue breathing is a good day."--The official psychopathic-apnean mantra.
