My C-PaP is no longer drowning me

Post by Monterrey8 » Mon Jan 11, 2010 10:48 am

Hi everyone, I solved the problem of my C-PaP drowning me and I just wanted to pass it on the info to you guys.
I went to the cloth store and bought fleece in the discounted area. I made a fleece sock that Completely covers all tubing (including the extension from the head gear). To make the sock, I wanted it to be a little generous in size so I used a width of 8 1/2 inches and the length of course was the length of the hose; including the length of the hose on the head gear. I would add a couple of inches in length just to make sure all is covered. (This is very important). When I sewed it up, I have about a 1/2 inch seam. I put on the sock each night and it has eliminated the moisture problem and it is certainly less expensive than anything suggested. If anyone needs one made for them, I'll figure out a price--please communicate that and we'll go from there. My e-mail is paullmont3@windstream.net. Monte

Good job, Monterrey. Sometimes just a cover like what you made does the job. Glad that worked for you.

For new readers, here's a bunch of discussions about the problem Monterrey described -- rainout:

Sometimes the best fixes are something you come up with yourself. An even better fix is something you come up with yourself that not only didn't cost you anything but that you made out of something from your scrap pile of things that you saved cause you may use them one day.

Their is also more pride in something you make your self.

Congrats

Gerry

My wife just made me a 6' long fleece hose cover last night for total cost < $5.00.

I was able to use my humidifier last night and did not suffer a rain-out for the first time.

I think the hose cover is going to change my whole CPAP experience now with dry throat/humidity/rain-outs.

I recommend it highly.
