I'm actually pre diabetic... insulin resistant, another option that's not on there.

Basically means that my A1C's are high, but not high enough for the official diabetic diagnosis. I've got another diagnosis that when it's treated, puts me on diabetic meds (metformin).

Plus diabetes runs in my family (dad was insulin dependent before he died).

False - my mother has had diabetes for 40 years and kept herself to a strict diet. It was under control for many years but now requires insulin. Your one example rancher isn't cured, he will relapse as he ages. He is in the bulls eye, just like I am because of genes and gestational diabetes.
It is actually harder to control diabetes with a vegan diet. Many plant food such as corn have a much higher sugar content.

I happened to see that show. That guy's A1C number was still 7.6. He may have gotten his blood sugar lower, but he's a long way from "normal". "Curing" diabetes would mean that a person could then eat a huge load of carbs and their blood sugar would not rise above 140 at two hours and then fall back below 99 in a short time.

Anybody that has "Dr." as a title in their name, I tend to take what they say with a grain of salt.
Sure, there are come common sense things in what he talks about, but, like I said, everybody's different and what works for one, may not work for the next person.

Exactly one year ago I was still borderline diabetic. I completely reversed it by diet alone ... I know everyone is different, but for me, carbs are the work of the devil.

Let's don't forget, that family history/heredity plays a big role in this too, my entire family, well just about, has type 2 diabetes. We are all on oral meds. and work really hard with diet and exercise. But, there's never going to be a cure so to speak. JMO.

I was a pre diabetic type II. There is a difference between I and II, Type II is reversible but Type I is controllable.

I discovered my family doctor has a better knowledge of my body than the specialist I saw for my pre diabetic. The specialist put me in some drug that made feel terrible. I changed my diet and exercise more and the prediabetic disappear.

I fired her so no more specialist. My family doctor send me for a full blood test and we found out I have low testosterone. This conditions cause glucose intolerance, so my problem was not diabetes, since I am in control of my testosterone no more problem with sugar.

And do you know Sleep apnea causes the testosterone to be low? so treat the sleep apnea and check your blood test maybe type II diabetes is a symptom for something else, just it was in my case.

EVERYBODY has the genetic predisposition to become diabetic. Some of us are more sensitive to carbs than others and even then, that cahnges though time and as we age are sensitivity increases. Hormonal disregulation eventually leads to metabolic syndrome which includes obesisty, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, inflamation, insulin resitance, and diabetes.

About 4 months into my pregnancy, they had me taking insulin twice a day and told me that I would probably never go back to taking it just once a day. They were right. I still take it twice a day and watch my carbs very closely. My last A1C was 6.7 about 2 years ago. Just had it done yesterday so will find out in a couple of days where its at now. A cure would be great but not holding my breath. My blood sugars have definately been easier to control since my apap.

I hope you meant to say "eliminate" carbs ... not "watch" them.

I have not eliminated carbs completely but I am very careful as to when and how much I eat. I check my blood sugar many times a day.
