If someone were to start up a net again, I think a requirement should be you have to wear a mask with a mic element fitted to it. No air flow though.

I used to work special event stations and do a little contesting, an apnea/CPAP special event contest wouldn't be that out of the ordinary. I vote we use 'TheDreamer' 's avatar on the QSL cards/certificate.

Hello all! I passed my technician exam this morning and came 4 pts from passing my General exam. I should have my Call and my HT next week then my base in a couple months.

First of all Congratulations!!

If the VE Team that gave you your test does the up load to the FCC within the next 24 to 48 hours your new call will appear on the data base by late Monday night, Tuesday morning. and it should show up on QRZ by Thursday at the latest.

Congrats....

I remember when I wrote my Tech, I also tried to get General at the same time...but missed it by 2. I remember that I wanted to get a new HT for (finally) getting a US license....first I wanted a VX8R, but it kept getting pushed...and then I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, so it continued to get pushed, finally I broke down and got a VX7R.

Been talking of getting an FT2800R next, but who knows now.

I did get on the air, after I got my old FT530 working (that's the radio I bought after passing my Basic in '93, had it before I got my callsign then).

Other alternative for 'base' is maybe get my old FT8000R fixed, assuming its something simple. I pulled out of my car at the salvage yard a few days after I totaled it from taking an overly long blink while doing 110 klicks down the #1.

Not sure where my plans for HF are now....had original planned to have something by now....

Congratulations Kevin!!!! Try to run through some of the qrz.com practice tests and by the time the VE has another session scheduled you'll be ready for General!!!!!

I belong to that orphaned class - Advanced. I passed 20WPM code and had my paper, but it expired before I took the written that I passed, so......Just gotta get off my keester and study for Extra......

If anyone knows where I can get a good multiband base rig (similar function to the FT-897) for a good price, please let me know. I know there is no way I am going to get out of the state on a 5w VHF/UHF FM HT.
