Well, now I know you are an intelligent woman with great taste. I am counting the days to the season premiere in two weeks. Absolutely love that show. Yes, I admit it. Sundays aren't the same without it being on!(love Desperate Housewives by the way).
It's Friday....anybody lose weight???

Well, I'm too serious but I also laugh though I have kind of a wry sense of humour. I know it and can't help it. My Irish, quick to anger then quick to wise crack. With a little sarcasm mixed in. Then my 1/4 German stubbornous

Wow Rock & Roll!
How can I resist an invitation like that? I've been told my humour is very "dry" and I love to "pull people's legs" but I always let them in on the joke as soon as I have got a reaction (but very funny sometimes, as among other finance/admin/office manager roles I am usually the PayMaster or PayPerson in recent years).
Perhaps there are others who would like to join in. Let's nominate a mediator at the start to keep things in order. Okay! I nominate God, are there any seconders?

Nope, I might have heard him sometime on Leno or something, but I couldn't say for sure.yawn wrote:Bill Have you every heard of the comedian Gallagher??? Why do they call it "fast" when it seems so slow??? Are you two related???
And to get back on-topic, I lost 4lbs in a little less than a week. But it was an usual week since I was feverish, sore throat, drippy nose, etc. But I'm getting back to normal, so let's see what this week brings.

I know what you mean. Even before moving from Canada to the US my wife and I noticed the difference in humor styles. Now, even after 8 years, I'll often say something that has my family grinning but Americans just don't get it. Then my family really cracks up at the puzzled looks on the American's faces!Margaret wrote:But Australians (and the English) poke fun at themselves more and are perhaps more ironic in their humour. That's not to say it's better' probably quite the opposite. There is a similarity or familiarity (to Oz) I find in Canadian productions but I haven't analyzzzed what it is.
I can't remember what I said Friday night to the young man who came to take my daughter out, but she had to explain to him that I wasn't serious; it was only a joke.
Happens all the time.
BTW, I'm not dieting, just making small changes. Last week I didn't really exercise as I was sick and just dragging myself through the week. If I hadn't had a machine that had to be rebuilt to go to a trade show (and me the only one who knew how to make it work) I would have stayed home.
This week, exercise!

Okay. I have to post this as it shows a REAL change in my lifestyle.
As you can see, I live on Long Island, in NY. You don't walk anywhere on Long Island. You drive. No arguments, you drive.
Well, this morning I had some papers that had to be FedEx'd into my office. The postice office is about 3-4 miles away. SOOOO, instead of taking my car, I walked. This included up hills, in the sun, and I kept a brisk pace the whole way, not stopping once. When I got there, I quickly made out the slip, put the papers in the FedEx enveloped, dropped it in the box, and briskly walked home, without stopping, up the hills, in the sun.
When I got home, I really felt it. I may ride 13 or so miles on my bike but walking this distance was far more strenuous. So I am going to now incorporate walking whenever possible into my exercise routine, or at least until the Long Island winter sets in and it gets too cold to go out, let alone walk. I just felt proud of myself for walking somewhere I could have driven when it took me about 45 mins., compared to a five-minute drive. To a lot of you, it may not seem like much. But for a Long Island girl, it is.
Guess this xPAP therapy thing is really working. This past May, I couldn't have gotten off the couch, let alone walk like I did today.

Treadmill tonight if I can catch my breath. I thought I was over this cold but now it is showing signs of turning into an upper respiratory infection. I've had bronchitis a few times, and it is starting to look like that again .yawn wrote:Glad to hear you're feeling better. Congrats on losing 4 lbs!!!!!!
