ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
I'm about to buy ResScan 3.7 software along with the Smart Card Reader.
First I want to make sure that it is compatible with my S8 AutoSet II. When I check the ResMed website, it doesn't list this particular model as being compatible. Can someone confirm if it is?
Secondly I want to make sure that ResScan can give me useful information over and above what I could get from the RESULTS submenu on my AutoSet II (which shows Pressure, Leak, AHI, AI, and HI broken down by day, week, month, 6 months, year). The reason I ask this I was just in to see my DME and they downloaded my Data Card into what I thought was ResScan. They printed off a 2 summary pages which did not show anything more than what I could get from the LCD panel on the unit itself. The first page gave device settings and a pressure, leak, AHI, and usage summary. The second page had 4 summary bar graphs (Pressure, Leak, AHI&AI, Usage) that showed a bar for each day.
I asked 2 technicians if they could print more detailed granular reports, that would give the breakdown of pressures and apneas during different time slots (by hour or minute) during the night. Both technicians told me that the software does not do that. All they said that the software could produce is a graphs showing daily summaries, not hourly, or minute by minute.
Either the technicians don't know all the capabilities of ResScan, or that capability was disabled in their installation, or the S8 AutoSet II does not download detail data (hourly and minute) to the data card.
Can someone let me know if ResScan could give me the data I want (graphs pressure, apnea, by hour and by minutes). I don't want to spend $260 and find I just get the same data I could read directly from the AutoSet LCD screen.
Also I understand the ResLink gives even more data. I'm trying to figure out if it worth getting. Does anyone know how much ResLink costs? I'm guessing I probably don't need the extra data that ResLink provides.

Re: ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
Yes, the AutoSet II is compatible with ResScan 3.7. I just purchased an AutoSet II and the software about 10 days ago so I don't know all there is to know about the application yet but it sounds like your DME printed out two things:
1. The information on the "Statistics" tab in "Review" mode
2. The information on the "Summary Graphs" tab in "Review" mode
To the right of the "Summary Graphs" tab is another tab labeled "Detailed Graphs". This tab displays four line graphs representing Leak, AHI, Events and Pressure over a user-selectable period of time ranging from 10 seconds to 24 hours. The Events graph indicates apneas and hypopneas but there is no unit of measure on the Y axis (just numbers ranging from 0.00 to 50.00). The apneas are red and are displayed with a number above them. I'm not certain what these numbers indicate, though. The number of seconds that the apnea lasted, perhaps? The hypopneas are represented in blue and don't seem to rise above 0.00 on the Y axis so I'm also not certain how to interpret that data, either. The graphs for Leak, AHI and Pressure all contain units of measure on the Y axis so it's easy to tell what the data represents.
Here's a quick screenshot of the application in "Review" mode:

Hope that helps answer your question!

Reslink will give you a more detailed pressure graph than ResScan will without it. Also it will provide "Minute Ventilation", Flattening Index", and "Snore Index".joeb989 wrote:I'm about to buy ResScan 3.7 software along with the Smart Card Reader.

With the addition of a somewhat expensive oximeter, it will log Pulse rate and SPO2 readings along with the other data.
Perhaps one of the major advantages ResLink provides is the ability to record more than three or four days of detailed data on the memory card. The user manual says up to 30 sessions of detailed data. Also the memory card is a non proprietary "camera style smart card" that is readable with an inexpensive USB smart card reader instead of requiring the expensive Resmed card reader. The ResLink module is available for less than $200 including the ResScan 3.7 software.
PM me if you want more details.
I have recently been informed that the ResLink has been discontinued and is no longer available.
It's too bad because there are some very useful features provided with this device.
(edited to include memory card storage info and "discontinued" notice)

Re: ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
Resmed has discontinued producing the S8 ResLink. The only ones you can get now is IF some supplier still happens to have one on hand.
I don't know what Resmed has in mind in place of the ResLink. Perhaps ResTraxx but I hope not as I do not believe that the patient will be able to access the ResTraxx data online. You can read about ResTraxx on the Resmed website under Products.

Re: ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
Would the detailed flow data (ie. minute ventilation, flattening index) available through ResLink help me to differentiate obstructive and central apnea/hypopnea events?
Does anyone know where I can get a ResLink?

Re: ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
I really think you do not want it - it costs over $1,000 and really does not give you much in return. ResScan 3.7 with your S8 AutoSet II is great - I have both and they work fine.joeb989 wrote:Would the detailed flow data (ie. minute ventilation, flattening index) available through ResLink help me to differentiate obstructive and central apnea/hypopnea events?

Your DME staff is either 1] less than truthful or 2] not very d*mn smart at all. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
The numbers in the box at the top of the red line is the length of the apnea, the number of seconds.

Dear JoeB,
Where do you buy ReScan3.7? How much does it cost? I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and I have been using CPAP for 2 weeks now. Sleep apnea has made me a complete useless person. My job demands high cognitive skills and I am unable to much work. I might get fired soon and I am trying to improve my memory and focusing as soon as possible. My DME is not very good in giving me information. I am trying to find the correlation between daily apneas and day's activities such as drinking, exercising, meditating, etc. This way I can optimize daily activities. (Surprisingly, I feel better when I take an alcoholic drink with dinner; may be stress reduction.) I think ReScan will help me in that. But, last time I checked ReScan was very expensive. It is nice if you know a discounted seller, but please let me know the price even if it is not discounted. Thanks.

Re: ReScan 3.7 Capabilities with S8 AutoSet II
I have Rescan and S8 AutoSet II... and they work fine together.
However, if you are like me you may find yourself not using Rescan much. I have my therapy dialed-in and simply view the results on the LCD in the morning... most mornings the AI reports as zero or a very low number below 1.
If I want to see the data more in-depth it is nice to know I have the capability, but quite honestly... I have not used Rescan in weeks.

Paul,
How long did it take you to get AI that low? Mine is around 4 (lowest 2.. AHI is usually around 8 (5 -15). And I don't feel good. This why I am trying every possible avenue.

You might want contact John Lukas at http://www.cpapworksllc.com/ for his prices on ResScan 3.7 and the card reader before you just purchase from CPAP.com - you might find John can save you some money.
What are your machine settings on your AutoSet II? It will take longer than 2 weeks on APAP theraphy to get your numbers down. Mine AHI has been around 3.0 or less since around Many 1, 2009 and I started in September 2008 with high numbers around 12 to 26 for my AHI. Once I got my APAP and adjusted the pressure range to fit my particular needs my typical reading are now around 3.0 AHI, 0.2 AI and 2.8 HI. Those are better than average for people without OSA. However, from the start I have felt better on CPAP and then APAP treatment. You should also understand that everybody is different and what works for some does not work for others. Keeping accurate records of your results, using the machine every night, all night and being involved in your therapy is what has worked for me.
Good luck.
