Last night, we had a 3-4 hr power outage just before bedtime. So, I wasn't hosed up and tried to sleep without cpap - bad idea. Woke myself up gagging, etc., and decided it was time to get a battery backup.
My husband offered to start the generator for me - that would have been restful!!!
What do I get for a Resmed S8 Elite II? Does it make a difference or will any regular battery backup be fine?
Thanks in advance.
Power Out - What battery backup do I need?
Re: Power Out - What battery backup do I need?
It does make a difference. I can't remember exactly what you need, but it needs to output pure sinewave electricity. Others on here can give you more info. Also, I believe CPAP.com carries battery backups for our machines.

Thanks Kenny - You make cpap look like fun! If those photos get around, everyone will want one!!
Re: Power Out - What battery backup do I need?
If you read through my Kenny's CPAP Thread, at first I was sort of dreading it. Well, actually, I was full of dread from the stress hormones.
Now, I am starting to treat it more like an adventure. Just like my weight loss now. I want it to be an adventure, not a chore, since it's more about the process than the result (even thought the result will be cool).

Re: Power Out - What battery backup do I need?
I also have the same machine and not looking forward to the summer here in arizona where we tend to get little outages lasting 1-2 secs. I think these occur when either of my two 4 tonne a/c units kick in.
I expect during that time the Elite II would power on/off, i would start to gag etc and then have to press the start button on the Elite again to get things going.
What i would like to know is if i had the battery as a backup would it keep the Elite ticking over during that 1-2 secs or would it still require a the gagging and me pressing the start button again?
Would a computer uninterruptible power supply be something that would keep the Elite going for a while ?

Re: Power Out - What battery backup do I need?
You could buy a marine deep cycle battery that would last several days......the down side is they are very heavy.
Or cpap.com sells some lighter weight batteries. Mine Resperonics battery.... https://www.cpap.com/productpage-bundle ... .....lasts for 3 nights.
