Re: Whats the average time most users wear cpap a night????
When I first started, I had trouble keeping it on 4-4 1/2 hours. When I got the correct size mask and had no more blowouts and runaways, it now averages about 7 1/2 hours of solid straight through sleep. Feel great all day now.

Hmm. Kantou, I think that your question is probably one of curiosity (and yes, I'd say that it looks like you're off to a good start! ). But I also think this kind of question can set up a sort of comparison/competition that is likely not helpful to folks who are struggling to get acclimated to the mask & cpap experience. Everyone here is needing to strive toward full-time use during sleeping hours, and one of the functions of this forum is to help folks trouble-shoot how to solve problems to make that happen. If some are in the struggling-stage with just a few hours "on the mask," then let's work with that, rather than compare scores in a competitive sense and end up inadvertently discouraging them.Kantou wrote:just wondering what everyones average time on the mask a night so far I have been getting 7.4 hours of use.....how bout the rest of you???????

Re: Whats the average time most users wear cpap a night????
I agree entirely. In a perfect world, we should all be 100% compliant..i.e. use of cpap/autopap etc through the entire night. Let's be productive here!plr66 wrote:Hmm. Re: Whats the average time most users wear cpap a night????
i sleep about 7 hours on average, 9hrs on weekends, and i wear my cpap 100% of the time.
in the begining i was only getting about 4 hours of cpap, then the rest without. i made a decision, i was going to wear it all night no matter what one night, since then have had no problems.
i think a good question would be how many hours did you sleep pre-cpap and how many hours now.
im getting better quality now and sleep less. i was sleeping 9-10 hrs. and still felt like crap before cpap, now i average 7 hrs. and feel much. much better. still not quite to the refreshed stage, but much better.

Re: Whats the average time most users wear cpap a night????
From the beginning of the year I average 7.5 hours a night. Every night--although the software lost one night. In November I was at my doctors and she asked me how the CPAP was going. I told her I was having a hard time with it, and I felt like crap. I went and got new mask. I used the machine every night and still felt awful. She wrote a script for APAP. I started using APAP mid Dec. Things have just been getting better. I have now been on CPAP for one year.
I have a friend at work and today asked her how she was doing. And she said that she had been able to keep it on for 5 and a half hours one night and she was thrilled.
We are all in different places in our therapy. I am thankful I found this board and all of the people here. Even though I don't always agree with everything they say, I respect them and I've learnt more here than I ever did from my RT.
