This is my home away from home. I swear by this site. And am also impressed by the fact that although other sites to buy equipment and other cpap-related items are given out in threads, the management here does not take those off the boards. That is impressive to me in that they are obviously secure enough to know it won't hurt their business, and certainly not their fine reputation. They give the users of their site the liberty to speak their minds, share their information, and they don't interfere. I say, cpap.com all the way!!!

PS: Neversleeps, rotfl x 1,000,000!!!!!!! You are hysterical...

Competitor's post

Post by SnoreNoMore2005 » Sat Aug 13, 2005 9:19 am

I was reading the first post and thinking I couldn't believe CPAPtalk.com lets competitors blatantly post messages on this forum that could lose cpap.com business and drive people to competitive sites.

Then Johnny exposed the ruse and I thought... how funny.

I can't blame other companies for doing what is referred to as "Guerilla Marketing" as it is very common in the Internet marketing business. But this person was so blatant, they ended up doing more harm than good for their site.

One glance at their home page and you know it's not a class act like CPAP.COM.

You did the right thing Johnny.

Give people enough rope and they'll usually hang themselves.

Gee, was it that obvious?
No, I had to compare the angle on the blue feet to come that conclusion...
thanks for the laugh!

Wonderful reaction Johnny.

....well,...ummmm....If I may say so....I just appreciate having a variety of sites to scour in order to learn about OSA! It is the personal accounts and user advice that I look forward to on any message board. I also appreciate updated product/procedure info form a variety of manufacturers. And certainly there are other factors that I consider as I select which site to browse and/or participate. Bottom line, I appreciate all of these popular OAS sites! (And, bravo for your handling of that graffiti poster. I knew something smelled fishy from the second post! )

So many internet sights are...well...yawn...boring! It is because this list IS lively and that we are allowed to be lively without being booted that it is my favorite and almost only forum for cpap.

I have not had any problem that this list has not addressed for me. I have made friends, been allowed to share my expertise with mattresses and otherv things to help others, I have sparred and argued with some and let others cry on my ahoulders, not how great is that? I think Johnny has put together a great thing here, I have done business with him and been no less than happy, yet he allows other websights and placesd to buy be mentioned without censure and rests on his own reputation and pricing. I respect that and plan to be an active member on this list as long as it is in existance and he stands by these principles.

I also very much like the fact this forum uses Johnny's computer and not mine with the use of cookies. Tas does not do this. They keep changing trying to find a system that works, this forum is consistant and just upgrades.

All I can say is THANKS JOHNNY! Keep up the good work.

heheh, Lindas, me too!

And ozij's answer to neversleeps' "Gee, was it that obvious?" was so funny!

"No, I had to compare the angle on the blue feet to come that conclusion..."

Still laughing at both of 'em, or... all four of them.

Lindas and RG,

I thought it was so hysterical, I called my almost 13-year-old daughter in to read it. She thought I had a warped sense of humor and looked at me kind of weird until I explained it to her a little further in detail. Then even she laughed.

You are both right. Every time you read it, you have to laugh out loud. Neversleeps has an incredible sense of humor.

And, yes, Ozij comparing the angle of the blue feet...great posts.

Getting back to the subject of this thread......Found this great site with lots of info (or words to that effect), I wonder what would happen if we all invented new names and posted to TAS about what a wonderful sight this is and listed all the information and great prices and multitudes of selections on machines, masks and accessories they offered with FAST delivery.

Most likely TAS would delete the threads/posts and ban the users.

I also found that there was something suspicious from the first post and was going to post something to that effect but decided not to...

I also browse both this forum and TAS and also find this forum friendlier, more helpful, and just all around better. You guys are all great.

I also second, third, or whatever LOL to Neversleeps... hilarious.

TAS was my first - excellent - source of info on sleep apnea.

There have been numerous mentions of cpaptalk and cpap.com (and its good prices) in postings there, and nobody was banned. "Guest" clearly doesn't know what s/he's talking about.

The TAS forum is more staid: no pms, no pictures, less humor, maybe less fun, but with very serious, supportive people there. It's not for nothing that Rested Gal's compilations frequently link to threads on that forum as well.

They have one internet troll (whom dsm met) skillfully handled by the forum administration, and posters who make sure newbies don't get confused by his disinformation. It is not by any means a forum of dolts and idiots. Take a look at post by "Less Sleepy", "BillinSeattle" "Frequenseeker" all people who don't post here, if you want to see what I mean.

And I first met Rested Gal's posts on TAS (as well as snork1, kermit, yoga, unknownwhatinseattle)

I love cpaptalk and I deeply appreciate Johnny's integrity in how he runs it.

It seems to me that TASMichael runs the TAS forum with no less integrity and decency.

TAS (the forum. and the site as a whole) is a very informative site - I find it hard to believe the two guest posts that started this thread had anything to do with the powers that be at TAS.

Some people just love to stir trouble - I believe that is what that very first poster wanted to do - and we really shouldn't let them.

ozij, you said it perfectly! Both forums - TAS and cpaptalk - have great strengths and different flavors. Likewise the ASAA forum...and all others out there. I agree with heretolearn...the more apnea message boards available all over the internet, the better. Fortunately, the admins at cpaptalk, at TAS, at ASAA, and many others allow references to each other by posters.

The only overly moderated (imho) apnea message board is perhaps the oldest one of all - sleepnet. There are nuggets of good info there too, but it's a board I rarely visit and don't bother to post on, given the heavy handed censorship -- not being able to post contact information, or even mention other sites...much less link to them.

P.S. Both forums (cpaptalk and TAS) sure do miss -SWS.

Well, I look forward to getting to know you guys.

I have a question?
I have been using cpap for 3 years and it's been great smooth sailing until about a month ago. I started having full on climbing the air ladder while doing the breast stroke, legs flailing, full mask egress awakingings while trying to fall asleep. I have tried playing with the pressure up and down separate mask full and nasal, a new machine and I am still doing this 5 or 6 times each night during the first hour I try to go to sleep. Does any body have a suggestion/s.

I have never used the ramp setting on my machine the pressure never bothered me and I was used to breathing forced air from my time in the navy. I tried the ramp and this condition was five times worse.

Well at least it lead me here!

It sounds like you are on straight CPAP. Would it be possible for you to get an APAP which automatically adjusts to the pressure you NEED either up or down. You can also adjust these, even without the software. I don't use the ramp, but have my starting pressure just below my titrated pressure.

Also, when was the last time you had a sleep study? I think it is recommended to have one every year, since things change, like your weight, what medications you are taking and those can affect the pressure you need. This is really important if you have just a CPAP or Bi-level machine.
