Where are EncoreViewer data files?
Where are EncoreViewer data files?
Can anyone tell me in what directory I might find my EncoreViewer data files? I've gone through the Respironics folder and have not found them. My program is really bogging down when I go to getting the report and, since I've been keeping a spreadsheet of the readings every day (well, every day the M coughs them up), I thought maybe I'd delete a good share of the data files to speed things up.
Thank you! And happy holidays to you all! I haven't posted in a good long while, so I thought I'd say a quick hi also.

Encoreviewer, doesn't have a data base, I don't think there are files to remove. Welcome back! Jimpjwalman wrote:Can anyone tell me in what directory I might find my EncoreViewer data files? Peggy, good to see you back also. Viewer keeps all the files on the card and does not create a data base that is why Pro Analyser can't see the files to work. The only way to get rid of them would be to reformat the card and erase them on the card. mycpap.com utility will do that if you don't have it.

Thanks, Jerry! I'll check that option out! I am just too impatient, I suppose, but I *hate* waiting for the dang report to load!

Now, here's the TRUTH regarding your question.
Encore Viewer creates files from the downloads in this directory on your computer: C:\Neo\SCDecodedFiles
They are named something like this (I just downloaded my card to create one) "decodedSC.xml12191247.xml". The file size of this one is 1105 KB.
So, in essence it can be taking up over 1 MB of disk space every time you download your card......and in time can really scarf up a lot of drive space......because the program has no way of deleting them that I've found. So, what I do is to make a shortcut to my Desktop for that directory and then delete the files manually.....either after every download or periodically.
They are not true database files like the Pro version uses, but the Viewer program has to put the raw downloaded files somewhere on the hard drive so the program can manipulate them into the reports that you see.....and that directory is where it stores the output report files.
Hope that helps.

You folks on here can see what kind of machine I have. Where is all this information you find? You know, it shows your leaks etc. I have a little door on the back to lift up, but dont know anything about it, or what it does. I've been on cpap since July, but dont understand all the numbers that you talk about. Thanks, Larry

Re: Where are EncoreViewer data files?
That sentence is making me question what machine you actually have. I've just edited my profile to show the "Pro 2" that I have. It has no "little door in the back to lift up". The data is recorded on a "smart card" that is in a slot on the side of the machine. To get the data, the card is removed and inserted into a card reader and downloaded with programs....one is Encore Viewer and the other is Encore Pro. The downloaded data is then used to generate reports to be able to see the results.Sleepy Boy wrote:You folks on here can see what kind of machine I have. Where is all this information you find? I would advise checking your machine for the exact name (manufacturer and model).....because many machines do NOT collect data.

Re: Where are EncoreViewer data files?
You must have your profile filled out wrong, the Classic Tank model has no door on the back, just the filter cover. You might have the "M"eries, does it have a smart card, what dore the top of your machine say it is. JimSleepy Boy wrote:You folks on here can see what kind of machine I have. Re: Where are EncoreViewer data files?
Yes Encore Viewers downloads the binary data off the Smart Card, decodes it, and stores the results in the fairly large XML files stored in that directory. If you examine the contents of those XML files you will see data very similar to that of the Database tables used by Encore Pro.Wulfman wrote:They are not true database files like the Pro version uses, but the Viewer program has to put the raw downloaded files somewhere on the hard drive so the program can manipulate them into the reports that you see.....and that directory is where it stores the output report files.

Re: Where are EncoreViewer data files?
That's OK, Jerry. Technically, the points you made were correct. Viewer (by itself) has no utility for erasing the card. And, it has no way of appending it's files to a "cumulative" database for Analyzer to work with like the Encore Pro versions. But, as James pointed out, there is a database-like structure in those .xml files.6PtStar wrote:Well darn, there I go talking about something I don't know anything about. One of the points I was trying to make (to Peggy's problem with her computer bogging down) is that these files are storage hogs and if they're not removed on a periodic basis, they could eventually create problems if a person is somewhat limited in hard drive space on their computer.

The REMstar Pro M Series machine is a fully data-capable CPAP machine.Sleepy Boy wrote:Jim: Its a Remstar Pro M series. When I say the back-its actually on top and it has a little screen, theres a + and a - button. It does have a card in it. Thanks...
To get the information out of it, you would need this package:
