Just got my Encore Viewer and Dt3500 reader
Did you use the install cd that came with the DT-3500 card reader, if so you have the wrond drivers installed. You have to install the drivers from the Encore Cd. Jim

No I used the drivers on the Viewer software. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled one last time and i am getting some crazy message
This is the error messgage:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continute. If you click quit the application will close immediately.
Unable to load DLL "Winscard.dll":The specified module could not be found [Eception from HRESULT:0x8007007E]
So if anyone can help that would be great. I am not sure if my computer is just not compatiable for the software or if there is something wrong with the software. But know it will not do anything. Before I could get into the application at least but it was not recognizing my reader. Now nothing just an error message that I posted above.

If I remember right - The reader is being seen fine in the device mgr. But there is an error with the SQL database, right?

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

This will contain all of the info needed on this file. You'll have to search for the above file. If your system doesn't contain it. You'll have to download it and place it in your windows/system directory. This is the worse case scenario.

wlo2008, I recently purchased the card reader also, and had a very frustrating few days trying to get the software to recognise the darn thing, despite the fact that the PC did. It turned out in my case that whilst I needed to also install the driver on the Encore Pro software, I could not locate it!
The driver could not be located by viewing the CD via windows explorer, but rather by the screen menu which appears when the CD is first inserted.
Once I realised that and loaded the driver, worked a charm. For me anyway, hope it works for you. Good luck.

my suggestion:
1. Make sure the USB card reader is plugged directly into the USB port, not plugged into any hub. Make sure it remains in that same port whenever you use Encore Viewer.
2. Reinstall the software, reinstall it right over the current install, shutdown computer after install, plug in the card reader power up computer.
LED should turn from Red to Green when it reads the card. The problem always encountered with the DT3500 is the driver is written for USB 1.0 instead of 2.0 so the computer never sees the reader.
It becomes more difficult because XP puts a copy of the driver in cache and also in drivers. You need to install the driver off the CD-Rom.
I don't have Viewer, ,but in Pro at the top of the screen bar under I think Setup there is a radio button or check box you check to tell it what type of card reader is used (i.e. serial or USB).
It will eventually work just takes installing it 2-3 times and rebooting after the install.
I haven't used Windows since going to MAC, but I still have it installed on one of my laptops somewhere.

I can assure you I'm not. RestedGal is a legend, a veteran information-wise of the CPAP genre. I'm a newbie in every sense of the word, CPAP-wise. I have learnt a lot from her previous posts, and bow (curtsey?) before RGs ability and knowledge.

Seems like there was also an issue about plugging the reader into a USB hub. That you must plug it directly into a USB port and leave it there. If you switch ports it starts all over again.

Not that it means anything but I've had my reader plugged into a hub for the last yr& half with no troubles at all.
Wendy's reader was showing in device mgr with no problems noted.
I have never even seen Viewer so I am kinda handicapped helping here.
I'm gonna have to suggest ruling out spyware (again) as the cause of problems.
