Snoring is often a sign that the pressure needs to be raised some.

But couldn't raising the pressure make his central apnea worse again? Do pressure needs change that frequently?

Snore can be benign. Regardless, if your husband had simple OSA, then the snore might be titrated away as either a potential precursor to obstruction, or as a sensory stimuli source of potential arousals. At least that's the way I understand it, Casiesea.

However, if hubby is diagnosed with complex sleep apnea, then that residual snore may very well be much less problematic than a pressure increase. Indeed, your hubby and his docs are trying to find the best balancing act between pressure and residual obstructive type events.

Above Article wrote:Avoiding Pressure Toxicity

Patients with complex disease are sensitive to positive airway pressure, and usually flow limitation cannot be eliminated without worsening periodic breathing or inducing central apneas. An immediate worsening with bilevel ventilation may be seen, consistent with an effect of induced hypocapnia on the peripheral chemoreceptors. One approach is 'permissive flow limitation' - allowing some obstruction to persist and thus avoiding the worsening of control dysfunction.

Hey Casiesea,

What are his cureent EEP and MinPS settings? Does he have an 'enhanced' Adapt SV, or are you still using the old model?

If you have Reslink and a ResMed Smart Media Card (SMC), then plug it in tonight and start gathering data for a read by SAG. Do you have the ResMed SmartCard Reader? You'll get no-where without data.

Hold it. I have no data and I'm fine? Special case! My Reslink Module came today. Think I'll plug it it so SAG can rip my blind settings in the near future, if he would be so kind.

He still has his "regular" adapt sv. I have the ResLink and there is a card in it. It also has a pulse ox attatchment. I do not have the smart card reader or any other software.

I will plug it in tonight. I have been assuming the machine stored the data and this thing could get it all off (3 months down the drain).

Ahh.. Who needs 3 months, a few nights is good! You will need the ResMed Smart Card Reader as I believe it is proprietary, but maybe some one will say I'm wrong (which they often do).

What did you say your email address was again?

What were those EEP and MinPS settings, again?

Casi,

Do you have the finger probe that plugs into the Reslink ?

There should be two parts to the SpO2 thingy, a short cable & socket of which the cable plugs into the side of the Reslink - it is called a NONIN XPod. Then a finger probe (possibly a Nonin 8000AA) plus into the XPod.

The XPod is the actual SpO2 device (as tiny as it is). The finger probe feeds data to the XPod which sends a serial TTL signal to the Reslink at 3 characters per sec (IIRC). The Reslink writes the dtat to the SM card.

Banned- I don't know the pressure off the top of my head. It is the same as it was the last time I told u. I will check the machine in a min.

DSM - I have a Nonin XPOD 3021 that plugs into the reslink. Then another cord plugs into that one and has the pulse ox sensor.

Casi,

Am trying to look at Radio Shack's catalogue to see if I can identify an example of what you need.

Here they cost about $A15-20.

Casi,

This is an example of what a SmartMedia USB reader might look like.

Casi do be careful, many of these multi-readers don't support SmartMedia - make sure that SM is included in the capability.

Here is a very interesting buy for anyone with a Reslink.

OORP 113 but on special for $8 +/- (SmartMedia is a somewhat old fashioned form & that is why the readers are dropping to low prices).

http://www.amazon.com/Hawking-HSM1U-Sma ... lectronics

My inclination would be to go for the reader plus the 128MB SM card & see if the Reslink writes to it. If it does it should theoretically hold more data from the Vpap.

Some are out of stock but there are enough there.

I'd go for the 1st one at the top as it has a good range.
