A REWIEW of SleepyGuy/Bret's ~ BRAND NEW Product, PAP-CAP !

Post by SleepyNoMore » Wed Jun 25, 2008 2:30 pm

First off, I'd like to say Thank You to Bret/SleepyGuy, for making and putting out such a "WONDERFUL" product!"Congratulations", You've done it again, WHAT A GREAT PRODUCT!
I recieved the Pap~Cap & Chinstrap yesterday and tried it out lastnight..

I love the design however, I would prefer a design with a woman's touch.

The material is totally cool and comfortable, it is so lightweight.

The Pap~Cap fits my head quite well however the straps are way to long and will need to be trimmed as stated in the directions.

The Chinstrap that attaches to the Pap~Cap is quite unique as well, it just attaches to each side of your head with velcro and you adjust accordingly (tighter, looser, etc.)

The Pap~Cap has a velcro loop on top of the cap for your hose and I found that to be awesome as I used my Swift 11 and routed the little hose through the loop, amazingly it took all the pressure from my nose that I usually get from using the nasal pillows and it held them in place ALL NIGHT! I didn't have to adjust my headgear or nasal pillows, not even one time during the entire night of sleep, (almost 7 hours) WOW

A review of how I wore it lastnight:

I put the Pap~Cap on my head and adjusted it as described on the instruction sheet.

Then I attached the Chin Strap, making sure it was snug enough and in it's proper place.

Next, I slipped my Swift 11 Headear over the top of the Pap~Cap, I pulled my ponytail up and out of the back strap so it would hold the headgear on (as usual).

Then I gently pulled the top strap and inerface down to my nares and made a few adjustments.

Finally, I ran the small Swift 11 tubing/barrell to the top of the Pap~Cap and secured it so that it could only slightly move, I might also add that I have Karen's Pad~A~Cheeks on my Swift 11 and I left them on there to.

So, I slept with Bret's Pap~Cap, his Chinstrap, My Swift 11, and Karen's Pad~A~Cheek cheek straps and I slept through the night without heating up...

Please remember that during the adjustment period, you might feel like it's going to be to warm for you to sleep with but trust me, I am one HOT SLEEPER and a side and back sleeper, and I didn't wake , not even one time!

Even if I choose not to wear the Chinstrap, I will always wear the Pap~Cap so that my headgear won't slide around all over my head and it will keep it in place.

I rate SleepGuy's "PAP~CAP & CHINSTRAP" from a (1 to 5 basis), I definately give it a 5, that's ***** stars for Bret, Thank You Bret.

I hope this helps others but, PLEASE keep in mind that each one of us are different in the Masks we use, the chinstraps, the cpap machines and we are all going to have different opinions on this but, I truly believe that anyone that tries this system, is going to really either (like it) or (love it), I really don't think anyone could (not like it) !

Thanks for this! I'd also love to see reviews from folks who haven't been able to make other chinstraps work for them without still suffering from mouth leaks, raspberries out the lips, etc.

MellaBella,

You are welcomed!

Just keep in mind that as with all chinstraps, it has to have a very snug, almost tight fit to keep your mouth closed, so if you can tolerate that, this will be an excellent product for you. Even if you decide later to not wear the chinstrap, the pap~cap will keep your headgear from slipping and sliding all over your head or at least it stops mine from moving around so much. In my case, my Swift 11 straps on the top, back, and ALL sides hurt and dent up my head and they hurt my ears to!
I noticed with using the pap~cap that I didn't have that pain, my head wasn't sore when I woke up!

Just keep in mind there is NO chin strap that is going to stop or prevent the "lip flutters", the air gently escaping thru your lips, or as MellaBella called them the "raspberries out the lips".

Thanks for the Review, MellaBella, its always good to read of success w/a product!

Actually, speaking only for myself and my own experience, it does resolve the fluttering-lip problem. It may create a new issue however--the Lip Pucker that results in kind of "kissing" the bottom of my Activa. But I can say that my puckered lips don't flutter in the breeze.

As to Carol's review, thank you very much. Carol actually paid for her chinstrap--this is not a paid advertisement. I'm having a lot of fun making CPAP cool and comfortable. That's my life mission.

Based on this and other feedback from Sleep2008 and other sources, I'm going to spend the weekend producing a little video clip of me showing the PAP-Cap Chinstrap that I will post on YouTube, along with another little clip about the aromatherapy products. Once that's done, I'll be sending around my way overdue Newsletter, hopefully by the end of next week. I have website updates on the way as well. So stay tuned.

Hi Bret,

We're you talking about SleepyNoMore/Shirley's Review?? Or is there another post somewhere that I didn't see??? Am I the first to review the Pap~Cap??

Just to let the forum know, I paid for my Pap~Cap and the total came to $35.99 because SleepyGuy accidentally took the shipping charges out then it was minus the $4.00 (newsletter code) that he posted in another thread because he was having server problems, otherwise the total would have been higher than what I paid!! And NO, I was not paid to give my review...

I wasn't paid when I gave my review for the Pur-Sleep Oils either, nor did I ever get anything free!!! I just like his products!

Not that anyone said that but I just wanted to clairfy...

It's been a long day.

Shirley. Yes. Shirley.

Kind of reminds me of Leslie Nelson's lines on the "Airplane" movie:

Stewardess: "Surely you must be [fill in the blank] by now."

Nelson: "Yes I am [fill in the blank] and please stop calling me Shirley."

Shirley (yes, Shirley, not Carol--sorry about that)--

I'd be glad of any specific suggestions, here or via email or phone. And I am happy to pay for good design help. I've been single for over a year now and this is not the first time I've found myself lacking that "woman's touch."

Years ago Reno Tom used to make a "chin lip strap" that people swore by. If that strap fit the bill for so many people I'm guessing SleepGuy's will as well.

SleepGuy, this is, after all, a social networking board for us hoseheads. Snoredog may have an extra welder lady friend for that "lost woman's touch" cause...

Nah! He's gonna keep them all to himself. .

I have used the Pap~Cap & Chinstrap everynight since my first post and it keeps my headgear from slipping around however, I am not tightening the Chinstrap (I am just wearing it loose) so that it will help with strap marks from my headgear, and to keep the Cap stay on my head because the two we're made to work togother!

The thing about Chinstraps (for me anyway), is that they have to be tightened up so much, that people , especially women (my age) refuse to use them, they will (use tape instead)

BTW, I still love the cap...

Just an update!
