Sleepy Guy:
Out of curiousity, I tried clicking on your equipment picture, and got an error message.
Then I noticed you comment:
Additional Comments: I don't know why this shows a humidifier. I don't use one and haven't specified one
.
All this instead of a few short words?
Ron's idea is excellent - words as links to the equipment pictures. The way it is set up now (if it works) is a kind forced commercial - "you want to know Xs equipment - go find it in cpap.com". You don't click, you don't know - unless you're very familiar with all those different kinds of machines and masks etc.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

JB - speaking of pictures - I have been wanting to put an avatar on my profile and have tried many time and also tried the Ask Question button on the site and emailed the webmaster (is it stephen?) asking for help, but got no replies.
How do you do it?
Sorry, qrlylox. You're asking the wrong person
But my guess would be that you have to save the pic you chose as a JPG file. Then go to your profile and browse until you find the pic again and click on it to get the URL in the site browser window, then click on whatever the activator link is (GO, Insert, Save Changes, whatever.)... at least that's how those things usually work?

I guess I'm not sure why anyone cares what someone else's equipment LOOKS like. Its kind of like preferring a child's picture-book to a book with words. For instance, with the software; isn't it just plain silly to be looking at a picture of a disc? Sometimes one's equipment is pertinent to the post, and sometimes it isn't.
Keep in mind, if you want to see a picture, you can always go to cpap.com....

Isn't it adequate and more concise to see just this one line of writing:
AutoSet Spirit, Ultra Mirage FF, Devilbiss HH, Autoscan 5.6

As long as it does not make the site crash though, as someone suggested in their post.
Those little icons are HIGHLY unlikely to ever make the site crash. Little pictures like this are used all over this website and every other website you look at. Also the size of those little drawings, in data bits, is so small you would never notice their impact on page load times.
The bigger question is, is this the best way to implement this feature. I still think the idea is good, but takes up too much space to convey too little information. Simply change the linked images to linked text and we will more easily be able to tell what a posters setup is at a glance while still keeping links to the more detailed product pages.

OK. OK. I took down the pictures and put up a brief description of what I have.

HA, HA!
Sometimes ya gotta LOVE these spammers digging into the OLDIES. I remember reading this thread shortly before I registered as a member (although I'd been reading the forum for a couple of months before that).
I remember this being a big controversy at the time. My, my....how things have evolved.
As you can see....I opted for BOTH....pictures AND written descriptions. PFFFFFTTTT
Den (easily amused and loves the surprises this forum brings)

Wulfman's right; this was brought up my someone ( ) many months ago, pointing out that it's easier to READ to equipment's description than decipher what the tiny picture represents. All an option.

I really don't know what the "beef" is in this thread. In your profile, you have the option to have either "clickable" photos, "clickable text" or none. As you can see, I prefer the "clickable" text.
Was the text option not available in the past, when this thread was first active?

As a Newbie: The text help alot!!
The pics of the masks help, the machines-not really...just black or white blobs
If I had to choose it would be text.
Wishing you dreams!!!

Frankly, I like the pictures. (I'm a visual person) Click on the pictures and you'll get all the information you need about the type of equipment people are using. Click on the text and you get all the information you need about the type of equipment people are using. So what's the difference? And why any controversy?

Au contraire - it was the pictures that weren't available way back then.
I still don't like them because if I want to know what equipment a person has, I often have to click on it.

I thought the pictures were cool and felt all proud of myself when I figured out how to turn them on
Now I feel a bit like a tool...
