I did more research. My therapist is working getting me the information that I need to get this installed properly.

But aren't there links that I can just go to so that I can get this on my computer?

encore pro viewer with vista only

Post by houltkin » Thu Jul 03, 2008 8:02 am

Has anybody successfully installed this software on a pc with vista? I've read the threads and found that there are posts that suggest that the user is not using vista, therefore xp applications might not work.

I want to buy the hardware/software for my laptop, hopefully through a usb port, but the posts need to be identified as vista users. I see some posts that seem to be from pc-savvy people. Could we have a vista-only section?

I agree with most of what has been said. However, I have Encore Viewer 1.0 with Windows XP and tried to install the Smart Card Reader/Writer software drivers from the Respironics disk as directed by the sheet that comes with the auto M series A-flex unit. I got the same message as the OP. Apparently it does not install any drivers though unless you have first installed Encore Pro which is why you get the message. You just get the massage from the installation wizard "Encore Pro is required", the wizard stops, and shuts down. So, you don't have to worry about what you have done already at that point. No drivers were installed.

The Respironics Smart Card Reader/Writer software comes with the card reader. That software/drivers is apparently only required for Encore Pro but comes with the card reader.

I agree all you need is the Encore Viewer software and it installs the drivers. Mine took a few tries though of plugging the USB reader in to restart the "Found new hardware" wizard. I think the last time I tried it I directed the wizard to the Respironics directory with the drivers in it and it started working and the button to read the card came alive in the Viewer software at that time. That brings up a question. Where is the data file stored? Looks like they hid it. Maybe, so you can't delete it?

Edit: Deleted thoughts about the directions, Respironics attitude toward the customer/patient/end-user relating to software (Viewer vs Pro), Pro availability, etc. as they are probably not productive. This forum is great!

Summary:

I agree. Do not install the drivers from the Smart Card Reader/Writer disk. Just install the Encore Viewer software and then plug in the card reader. If the installation wizard doesn't find the drivers then direct it to the Encore directory where the drivers are.

Now, How can I get Encore Pro so I can start using Analyzer?

What a timely thread - I love the forum! I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with CPAP.com trying to figure out this exact situation only to discover they offer no tech support and the rep had no idea what i was talking about.
Just got the encore viewer 1.0 & card reader and I thought I'd received the wrong software due to error message about needing encore pro 1.3 .
Now I'm ready to (attempt at least) read my card for the first time.
Thanks folks!
