encorepro problem

Post by bigcat » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:05 pm

I have a reader (infineer) and card(encorepro smartcard). I used it in 2005 with no problems. Trying to use it again and keep getting there was an error communicating with the smartcard. This is 1.4.87, an older version of encore pro. I know the reader and card are good, I used the mycpap.org utility and it worked great. What is going on with this message? I tried two computers and one of the computers used to work. Is there a program that might conflict with the reader?

The light is green when I insert the card, and then goes red after about 12-20 seconds. I just got a new m series with aflex. It came with a card and it is brand new. Both cards do not work. That eliminates the cleaning problem, even though I cleaned them with an erasor.

Thanks for any help

What cpap machine are you trying to get data from?

(In rereading you are using this for the APAP with aflex? ------- no - need version 1.8 for encore pro or encore viewer 1.0)

Have you set up any programs that have a more recent version of MSSQL in them? MSSQL was upped in version 1.5 to a more complicated set up.?

Did you use the correct drivers for the smart card reader - they are on the two-factor site if the EP CD doesn't have them?

I am running EP 1.4.91

Trying to get an old auto machine which I got data from before and a new m series. I do have an m series with aflex. Yes apap with aflex. But I am trying to use on two different cards, one is an old card that I have read before now.

No database problem, tested that and all is good with MSSQL. Using a usb reader and have that setup correctly. I assume I used the correct drivers as the mycpap application worked and in device manager shows correct reader etc.

Thanks

The old auto - tank model - should be able to get data from it -- that is my machine.

However 1.5 was created for the Auto Bipap tank and I think it needed XP, 1.6 was created for the m series machines, and 1.8 was created for the new Aflex machine as well as the new OS Vista.

I also think people have run into problems moving cards around between machines - I don't know all the specifics. You might erase the cards and do some testing over the next few nights.

XP shouldn't be a problem

I am using xp and I am trying to get data from the old machine and the new one. The two cards give me the same error. I have read the old card before without problems. Can I not read a new m series with a flex with this version of encorepro?

I still should be able to read the old one. I now wish I had the encore viewer!! Maybe that would work, but I don't know.

I'm not certain if you mean that you used the mycpap.org utility in 2005 or that you used it recently.

If you used it recently, when you click on "format the card" does it appear to do that?

> I am using xp.

Are you trying this on the same computer that you used in 2005?

you can't read the card from the aflex machine with EP 1.4 - need EP 1.8 or EV 1.0

if the card was erased before being put in the old tank, then it should work --- however it might be some other kind of error such as a reader one - there have been lots of threads over time about needing to have a usb port that is "powered" such as don't use one on the keyboard. The actual error number you are getting write down and search the forum for it.

there are many things in the FAQ section on encore pro - takes weeks to read them all -

myencore utility wasn't around back then - I have never used it myself - in EP 1.4 you can erase cards

I used encorepro in 2005. I used the mycpap app today. Encorepro worked in 2005 and mycpap utility works now, but not encore pro.

The error source is blank and the error number is 0. I guess I am going to have to get something different as I just want to read the m series now. Oh well.[/code]

Just don't know why one application would work and another would not work. Thanks for any help.
