Looks like chocolate is garnering some fans--maybe even enough to slip into the open No. 5 slot . . . .

Of course I realize that it will take a while to work your way through the samples. Don't rush. Let's have some fun with this.

Also, eucalyptus is native to Australia but has since been taken to suitable places, like Southern California. I didn't know it was grown in Israel. Are there any koala bears there? Are those guys as soft and cuddly in real life as they seem on tv?

Thanks to all!
No, we should be thanking you sleepguy!!!

I appreciate you giving us an opportunity to experiment some. Like I told in my previous post I mixed the chocolate and vanilla and it was yummy smelling!!

I like the vanilla and was wondering how much different is the creme from the vanilla?

I need to order a creme and try it as it is vanilla essential oil isn't it?

Night two of this trial, and I used Peach. It wasn't as strong as the Vanilla, but living 16 miles from the Peach capital of Oklahoma, I liked it. Slept well and only woke up once during the night.

Think I'll try the Calm tonight.

Hiya.

Sleepguy, koalas ARE as cuddly as they look, but it is EXTREMELY unusual to get a chance to cuddle them - added to the fact that if you pick them up the wrong way you can break their front arms. In the wild they're VERY shy, and they can get VERY angry and grumpy (especially the males - a bit like humans, eh!!!!). The males make an extraordinary noise, not unlike a lion roaring - quite unsettling at night, until you realise it's just a cuddly old koala!!!! They also have a reputation for piddling on people. They only occur in the wild in Australia, but some overseas zoos have them (as well as Aussie zoos, of course). They're difficult for foreign zoos to keep because they are VERY fussy about the type of gum (eucalypt) leaves they will eat - if you haven't got them, they'll starve to death. However, I have heard of a colony on French Island (near Melbourne) that started to starve and then began to eat pine needles.

Eucalyptus trees were exported around the world in the latter 19th century especially - both to use as railway sleepers and to use to soak up the water from swamps (malaria or swamp fever was then believed to be caused by swamp gases or swamp miasma). In Sri Lanka I've seen them used to burn in tea kilns (is that the right term?). One finds them all around the Mediterranean, because of the climate similarities with Australia - although we also have gums which grow in the mountains, and which like snow. In some countries they are now regarded as something of an introduced pest.

There, wouldn't guess I'm a teacher, eh!!!! Back to work on Tuesday after two months off (operation recovery, then summer holidays).

GrizzlyBear If I had my time over again I would be a teacher.

I am a teacher and as the old saying goes it is not a piece of cake.

Think about it this way -- you are contracted to work so many days out of a year -- you are NOT getting paid for the days you do not work. There are meetings and inservices after school hours that are uncompensated, curriculm that needs written -- often on your own time, lesson plans to be written, papers to grade, meetings over the summer that you are expected to attend, the list goes on and on and you do this on your time -- not on the school clock.

While you are OFF you are expected to continue your education at your own expense. Many teachers buy school supplies out of their own pocket as many students simply cannot afford to purchase them. Then of course there are other things you need for your classroom that simply do not fit into the school budget at that time -- so what do you do you pay for it yourself. The list goes on and on.

I love my job as a teacher but how I often envy those that have "regular" jobs that when they leave work their time is their own.

Okay here goes night 2 of the scented fragances.

Last night I was sorely tempted to use the chocolate again -- oh how it beaconed to me and gesturing for me to pick it up and dispense some of the sweet smelling elixir. It danced and pranced about shouting here I am -- you know you want me -- come on pick me up and go for it!! Oh the temptation was oh soooo strooong!!

I resisted with all my might. I told chocolate that he was like a fine wine to be savored and enjoyed and my mission that night was to find other fragances that would compliment him and become part of the pack.

As difficult as it was I finally chose peach. The smell is delicate and fragile, so sweet and pleasant in the bottle. Unfortunately upon putting the scented pad near my intake the moment was shattered. No -- it can't be I don't smell a thing!!! Unfortunately for me it had no impact what so ever on me!! I know that I had enough dispensed as I used a couple of drops, did the sniff test and it wasn't strong enough so I dispensed more. Only on a rare occassion did the scent waft through and I could smell it.

Of course my sense of smell might be screwed up and others may find the scent very appealing -- I will give it another shot after I have tried some of the other scents out.

Tried the strawberry. Was very pleasant. Light, fresh, not overly sweet like most strawberry fragrances that I have experienced in the past. I like it equally as well as the chocolate. Although for different reasons. I am very impressed with every fragrance I have tried so far. Looking forward to a new adventure tonight.

My daughter says that the Strawberry smells just like her lip gloss. All my kids absolutely loved that one!

Also, just a reminder that you should not let a scented pad come into contact with your furniture! Someone asked me to pass that along.

I used the peach last night and slept great and had my lowest AHI ever at 1.4! I didn't think I would like the peach but it was very nice!

WELL, I WAS GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWAL FOR ABOUT A MONTH AS I HAD RUN OUT OF MY ESSENTIAL OILS AND DIDN'T HAVE MONEY TO ORDER ANY MORE. I FINALLY ORDERED AND I WAS SO HAPPY TO RECEIVE MY SHIPMENT WITHIN FOUR DAYS. CLEAR AND DEEP ARE MY FAVOURITES AS I NEED THE STRONGER SCENTS. BRET SENT ME A TRIAL OF CALM AND I LOCE IT!!! I REALLY LIKE EUCALYPTUS AND ROSEMARY BOTH ANYWAY. THE CALM REALLY CLEARED UP MY NASAL STUFFINESS AND I WAS ABLE TO SLEEP ALL NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVERAL WEEKS. THANKS BRET. PAT

Chose the bananaberry for last nights adventure. Pleasant, not overpowering. Just wanted to relate unusual experience. I live in small home, (3 small rooms). Tried just placing some on diffuser pad early in the day to just see what to expect. Began to smell it everywhere in the house. Before bed put one more drop on pad and donned my mask. Much to my surprise, aroma was not near as heavy as I had expected. Wonder why seemed stronger earlier. Maybe I had gotten used to the smell.

question about brands

Post by talyn777 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 8:45 am

Does anyone recommend other products besides the Pur-sleep.com kits?

Can these oils be added directly to the humidifier or is it after the humidifier?

I've never used one, but I'd like to try something besides loading up my mustache with Vicks Vapo-rub to keep my sinuses clear.

Thanx, Talyn

My first night I tried the Black Cherry, 1 drop, all I can say is WOW! It will probably be my new favorite.

Second night I tried the Peach. I had the same experience as SleepyCarol, couldn't smell it. I kept adding drops, stopping at 5. I could smell a very pleasant, very faint peachy smell. It was gone by morning. I like stronger fragrances.

I tried BananaBerry last night. It was a nice smell. Not strong, not faint, and it was still lingering this morning.

I love the variety SleepGuy is getting for us. Keep up the good work!

Just as the nose is very good at detecting new smells it is equally as good at ignoring smells. Remember the last time you smelled baking bread, like at a pretzel place in the mall? The people who work there stop smelling the baking bread within a short time. So, you got used to it. But that's ok--it's all part of the desensitization process. You want your brain to get to the point that it will ignore sensory input so you can sleep!
