The honeymoon ends so quickly!

Post by Country4ever » Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:27 pm

Hi all,
Have you found that something new on your face seems to work really well the first night, and then quits working so well? I'm going to quit posting my excitment over new things because it just doesn't seem to last.........the larger nose pillow, the tape, the self-sticking wrap, etc., etc.
I wonder if our bodies are sort of "on guard" when we wear something new and subconsciously behaves itself??
Anyhow.....not to jinx anything, but I went out and bought some 1 and 1/2" elastic. I'm going to try to fashion another chin strap. I'm sure it will work great the first night, and then its back to high leak city. I couldn't figure out the panty-house things, and all the head bands were too small.
I used the 2" self-sticking bandage last night and my leak rate was down, but by morning it was rolling up on itself.
Just wondering if the rest of you find that new things work for a short time, and then stop working?
(I'm sure figuring all these things out keeps our minds active and sharp! ?? )

I have had the same problem with masks. I find one that worked well for a few days but then didn't.

The mask I have pictured is not the mask I actually have. I have the older model, the one that goes over your head. I have troubles still with the air leaking from around the nasal seals. I wear the medium but there are times the small might be better. The only problem there is the small sometimes gets literally pushed up my nostrils.

There's no winning.

I'm still waiting to get to the Advanced treatment stages. I'm better than before, but not back to 100% and I still take naps.

YUP!

I had a EUPHORIC next day after my first night on the Hybrid. Could never replicate that. It leaked like a sieve all night, drove me crazy. I was SO dissappointed. I ended up giving it to another lady who really wanted it. She traded me for a mask I was completely certain would never work.

It did. I'm still wearing it. Nasal Aire II.

Not many EUPHORIC mornings, but a slow steady increase in mental and physical energy. Still have bad days. Still have bad habits contributing to bad days. But "getting there."

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP TRYING!

Yeah, I've had that happen many times. I get all hyped up and think that the "new" mask will be great and all my problems solved. They never seem to work like I think they will. I tape my mouth and think, oh this will make my leaks better and check the data the next day and leaks went up. If only I could lay perfectly still at night. Maybe a straight jacket will work, lol. I'm not giving up though because the cost of giving up is too great. Sooo, I just keep hosing up every night and doing all I know to do.

I've gotten "hosed" by a few products that I thought were the magic solution to all my sleep issues, but just like Lavendar, every night I keep on hosing. The alternative just doesn't make it worth giving up.

And, my wife loves me more! Sleeping next to a small hiss is a lot better than sleeping next to a loud snore (or maybe she said bore--who knows, I was half asleep anyway).

Hmm, I'd ask what the "panty-hose" thing is, but I'm really not sure I want to know.

Why thanks!

I've missed you and everyone else here too.

It's just been a real busy time of year for me at work. Wrapping up year-end stuff, meetings for things happening in the New Year, etc.

I'm glad to be back.

Oh country ... you've really hit the nail on the head! I'm still constantly re-inventing what "works" for me! I'm trying to remember to wait a week or more before feeling that self-satisfied smirk

Too many things I've tried that have worked once or twice and left me with that wonderful glow ... only to go *splat* after that....

LOL Robin! Rumor has it that the pantyhose/tights work well as a chin strap, but I'm not sure of the design. I know someone posted a pic of how he cut the waistband out of a pair of tights, and used that for a chinstrap, but the hose I have seem too weak for that. You should have seem me in the store today in the notion's department. I was in the corner with some of the elastic, pulling it tight around my face.....seeing if it would work. If anyone had seem me they would have probably called the men in white coats.
Your question reminded me of a question I asked awhile back. Someone said they had tried the earplugs, but it didn't help their leaks. I couldn't figure out how earplugs would help leaks.....unless they were coming from their ears! hahaha Turns out, people use the type of maleable earplugs you can mold around the nasal prongs on the pillow-type nose masks. I've bought some of those too, but haven't tried them yet.
I'm accumulating quite a stash of "stuff", in trying to deal with leaks!

You won't have any trouble, "Boy Wonder", you have already mastered wearing the tights. Sorry I couldn't resist. Jim

Surrrrrrrre, you want to know...

Leg cut off pantyhose tights (not just pantyhose.)

Makes a nice soft stretchy strap.

To use as a chin strap.

or...

As an extra strap or two to stabilize some masks better.

Like so:

or like so:

Can render a leaky unusable mask into that elusive perfect mask.

Or not.

RestedGal........I guess I really need things spelled out for me. So I buy a pair of tights and cut the leg off.......the whole leg? The bottom part? Any part? And do I just tie it over my chin and head? Sorry I'm having trouble picturing this.
I bought some elastic yesterday, and it just doesn't do it. I suppose any long strip of material would work to go under the chin and tie overhead, right?
My hair seems to get caught up in everything. I suppose I need to wear a skull cap first?? What a sight I'm going to be when I get this all figured out!

I once took a look in the mirror after getting all set for my hosed night's sleep. Never done it again!
