NasalAire II tubing

Post by Bytor » Thu Dec 13, 2007 10:27 pm

Is there some 3rd-party tubing I can buy for my Nasal Aire II? The tubing that goes from the prongs down to the connector that connects to the CPAP machine hose. Mine easily develops kinks that cut off the air when I sleep in certain positions. The tubing with other masks I've tried has been tougher. I'm having trouble finding any on cpap.com...

Vent Lab has the same design as the Nasal Aire and I will check after work to see if the nasal prongs are interchangeable. The Vent Lab tubing seems a little heavier.

Weird. I sleep all over my tubes and NEVER have this problem. I've heard another person tell me they have a kink problem, as well, however.

Look in your yellow pages for "laboratory supply" (NOT Medical Supply). Take the mask to them, and see if they can sell you lengths of tube that will work. That's where the manufacturer gets them.

If you can't find anything like that where you live, contact the manufacturer by telephone and discuss the issue with them. They might be able to help you resolve the issue.

Lastly, you might see if a medical supply place or aquarium shop sells the tubing. I think I've even seen similar tubing at Lowe's.

Cheers,
Babs

We are talking about the silicone tubes that connect the device to the hose, right? A while back Innomed changed the tubing to have interior ribs, to resist crushing and blocking the tubes.

The tubing hardens in about 90 days. It has never been available as a replaement part from Innomed or it's suppliers.

Hours googling and many orders from manufacturers have not produced an acceptable substitute for me.

Trip. My tubing has NOT hardened in my first mask at all. I really can't tell the difference between the first mask, which I acquired used in May (gosh only knows how old it was then), and the new mask I bought in October. If I'm not careful, I get them mixed up.

I've heard other people also say they don't have tube hardening issues. I think it varies widely from batch to batch. Either that or the chemicals one uses to clean them.

Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Innomed sells just the tubing. Call them for a place to buy one.
Mine is still flexible after a good year, but it's a shade darker now than my wifes new one. Still works great, but I could use a new head strap.

Neverbetter - whatchya got to trade? I'll trade you some brand new headgear for a Large cannula.

Or.... Have you tried making your own headgear? Do you use a chinstrap? I find attaching my tubes to my Tiara Topaz chinstrap works way better than Innomed's headgear. You can see examples in my sig line below.

Look under the lab rat awards as well. There are some fixes and modifications on there.

I didn't like the headgear it came with so made my own. It was simple to do and didn't take a lot of work.

I know I have a large nasal aire one cannula somewhere.
I'll pm you when we find it.

My wife saw a picture here of a woman with a wool cap with two elastic loops on the sides she's going to make us. She needs to find wool caps, however and we're living in Florida right now (south Florida, no less) and there are no wool caps here.
I saw a brother with one on yesterday and almost asked where he got it, but chickened out. Guess it's a hip- hop thing here....

Hey, I'm just today shipping that headgear off to GeoDoug to test drive the NAII. SO....

Wool caps you say? Want standard issue Army Olive Drab? I live in Military Surplus Heaven here outside Fort Lewis.

Lemme know!

Here is my headgear that I fixed using a stocking cap -- it isn't woolen and should be cooler than wool.

Under the red question mark look under lab rat trophies and you will find other modifications as well.

Oh wait, am I missing something? NeverBetter, do you just mean you need a "cap", of whatever fiber? That's very easily obtained HERE. Just tell me what you want, and I can find it.

I just bought a cap made from that very silky polyester fleece that's so popular right now for scarves and hats and gloves. Got some bed socks out of it too. Might make very nice caps for you.

But if you're warm down there, you might want to think about using a ball cap instead. Look up that Sleep Cap guy's stuff for ideas:
