Cosmo Magazine, wrinkles, sleeping, and head gear
Actually, I like this idea a lot. I have very sensitive skin and it is being bothered by the straps, The PadaCheeks I have (I got the cotton covered ones) help some, but it still feels irritating. I may wrap some silk around them to see if it's less irritating. It will need to be the satin type silk to be really smooth.jennmary wrote:I have heard silk pillow cases help....maybe I will get some silk padacheeks. lol
I was kind of joking before about the mouth taping, but I think I'm going to make sure when I tape I let my face be smooth so as not to tape the wrinkles into place.
It's worth it for the good sleep, but I'd rather not have more wrinkles than I need.

Vanity knows no age! My aunt was 85 and she worried about her thinning hair! I am 49 and I worry about all of it! I have wondered about skin breakdown from the mask. I have noticed broken capillaries around the cheek/nose area. I always used to wear skin care to bed but now with the mask I would end up breaking down the mask. If I was a guy I would grow a beard!!!! So again beauty and vanity is a concern like it or not! At least for me...why rush it if you don;t have to!

Effects of masks on skin
First of all, MaryB - no wrinkles at 62 - you should bottle and sell your secret! I don't have too many wrinkles at age 55, but it's only because they are plumped out. Hate to see what weight loss will reveal.
Can't say about wrinkles from the masks, but when I first was sleeping with the Swift and it was way too tight causing pig-nose, I woke up with small spider veins on the cheek next to the fold of the nose. From what I understand, they are permanent unless lasered. Once I switched to other masks that sealed without pushing the nostrils, no more have developed.
Recently saw a retired relative for the first time in several decades. I remarked about her beautiful flawless skin, and she responded that her skin is very sensitive and she has rosacea, and the only product she has used on her face in years is Cetaphil. Been intending to get some for myself.

I picked up the wife from the airport today at 11:15 am after her being gone two weeks, and her second comment was noticing the marks from the straps on my face. I was sure the wrinkles would provide some camo for the strap marks at that hour of the day. Apparently the straps ride on the one patch of smooth skin remaining in the middle of the bags and wrinkles. That means I'm still HOT, right?

FYI, Padacheek does sell silk covers. They are indeed really smooth. On the website, you'll only see silk covers for the cheek (under the ear) listed though. But if you call, Karen can also make you silk covers for the temple (over the ear) straps and forehead pad. She'll tell you how to order to make the pricing come out right (e.g. order a silk cheek cover for a silk temple cover).RosemaryB wrote:The PadaCheeks I have (I got the cotton covered ones) help some, but it still feels irritating. wrinkles...
As much as we all don't want to have wrinkles...... i believe wrinkles are something earned from laughing, smiling, crying, and living a full life. I hope my wrinkles (when Im older) show the great life I have had.
It's what I've used for rosacea for at least 10 years. Sometimes I get the generic from CVS or Walgreens which has the same ingredients.Snoozy Q wrote:KTeauge,
A few months ago, I switched to Cetaphil cleanser and tepid-to-cool water for cleaning my face and found that I no longer needed most of the stuff I used to put on my face. Barely need moisturizer anymore.
They sell Cetaphil at Costco in huge bottles for cheap. The stuff is amazing.
Right after getting my mask I was using California Baby Shampoo for extra sensitive skin, which I use on my eyelids, because the RT said not to use anything else. But this did aggravate the rosacea, and I've been using Cetaphil with no problems with the mask.
Unless I have a flare up (rare before cpap and now getting under control), my skin looks pretty good and I do get compliments on it sometimes.

I've been getting an increase in pimples. I dont understand why? They have been coming around my nose. Usually I do not get acne at all, so this is new to me. I was wondering if it was from the mask pushing my nose up. I feel like it is doing the pig nose thing. I hope it doesnt get stuck that way!!!!

re pimples
i ahve gotten a few here and there more often. I do attrigbute it to the mask.. i find at certain times of the month as my skin changes I may need to wash the mask seel more then once a week. I laso loosened it, so it doesn't rub there....
If I could grow a beard, I'd be a lot less concerned about lower face and neck wrinkles coming : ) BTW, like the beard : )DreamStalker wrote:Yea ... I think I would use the mask rather than worry about my skin. Besides, I'm pretty sure my skin wouldn't look nearly as good after I've been dead for a few weeks (IMO).
