Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
Here is my situation:
For the last 10 years, I've been using the System One series 50 with great success. Due to foamgate, I bought a Resmed 10.
I'm using the same mask (Swift FX Medium) and I'm using the tubing that came with the Resmed with the heating function of the tube turned off.
Every since the switch I wake up at either 3 or 430am.
When I switch back to the System One, everything works fine.
For the System one I have the following settings:
Pressure 9.0
Cflex 3
For the resmed I have pressure 9.0 EPR 3
I have tried using it an APA mode from 9.0 to 11.0
I tried turning off the EPR after ramping.
Any suggestions?
I can provide Oscar settings if needed. Please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's happening every time I use the CPAP

I was able to get back to sleep. But this doesn't happen with the System One

Did the wake for this night happen at 3:00? Or at 4:00?jojopuppyfish wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 2:43 pmIt's happening every time I use the CPAP

In general, if the wake is short and you get back to sleep quickly, you don't need to worry about it.
But out of curiosity: How does the leak line when you are using the Resmed 10 compare to the leak line on the System One? Keep in mind that in Oscar, you have two leak lines for the System One; the bottom one is the one that is equivalent to the single leak line for the Resmed 10.

Re: Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
The particular night wakeup that I posted was at 4:30am.
Previous night on the Resmed was 3:30.
As for the Leak Rate, on the Resmed its been all over the place with a range of anywhere from 16 to 26. Doesn't look consistent at all . On the system one it is 30ish

Re: Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
So I figured out a solution to my problem. Someone mentioned above about leak rate. Well I've been using my Swift FX medium mask for 10 years with great success....with the System One.
On a hunch I bought the P10 Resmed mask which is similar but some people said was better than the Swift FX.
I tried it for two nights in a row on both the resmed 10 and my Dreamstation 2 with great success. It leaks much less than the Swift FX
I hope this helps anyone with making the transaction to a new machine. It might be time to think about getting a new mask too.

Re: Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
Just an update.
The p10 was a little tight and causing me headaches.
So I switched to the Brevida mask and I now have had 2 successful nights where I don't wake up in the middle of the night.
This mask does a great job of reducing air leaks.
Conclusion:
The Swift FX was great for the System one. But the Resmed 10 is not very tolerant with high air flows. The Brevida definitely has lower air flow leaks.
Hope that helps someone out there.

Re: Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
Just want to give an update for future reference.
Even the Brevida mask was causing me to wake up sometimes at 3am or 4:30.
Then I came up with an idea:
I would go back to the P10 but I would look for other headgear that wasn't as tight.
And I found it.
The headgear made by Medihealer isn't nearly as tight at the Resmed headgear that comes with the P10.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZXVM2PV?ps ... ct_details
I have now had 2 good nights of sleep without walking up.
Again I am writing this for anyone else who runs into the same problems I have had with the move from a successful old CPAP to the latest CPAP machines.
The adjustment is not as easy as it would seem on paper.

Re: Switching from System One to Resmed 10 and now I wake up at 3 or 4am every night
Just wanted to update my situation:
After watching this video, I changed my Resmed 10 to full face mask and went back to using my Swift FX medium mask.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpQC7TgCoe8
It made an immediate difference.
It's been a few months now and I'd say the Redmed 10 is getting me the same results as my old system one.
But it certainly took some time.
