greyhound,
I used the original headgear for about 5 months with good results. I have been using the new (grey) headgear for about 10 days now.
The new headgear is heavier and the velcro seems to hold better. I can only describe the results by saying that the new headgear is "more stable" than the old headgear. By "more stable", I mean that when I put it on it will hold its settings (adjustments I made) throughout the night as I toss and tumble. It also holds the adjustments over a number of nights (once I get it adjusted properly I can wear it night after night without making additional adjustments).
I believe the key to resolving leaks is sizing of the mouthpiece and nasal pillows and proper adjustment of the headgear. Here is a link of what has worked for me:

Since I wrote that post I have added a set of Pad A Cheeks and besides eliminating facial marks they have added to the feeling of headgear stability.
Regards,
rooster

For me, with the old headgear, I couldn't use the large mouth cushion becasue it leaked at the corners of my mouth. I had to go to the medium, even though it seemed to small, it worked. With the new headgear, I am using the large without any leaks. I think the best part of the new head gear is that it has more stretch then the original, so when you move it seems the mask holds its place better. It is a huge improvement over the original.

I got fitted with the Hybrid 2 days back (the therapist assured me that it was the new adaptive flow one). It came with the grey headgear. It took me a couple of hours to get adjusted to having it on me but after that, I've slept really well. I haven't had any real leaks to contend with. The mask is quite comfortable.
My therapist has asked me to call her next week to report on my experience.

Had they started selling this grey headgear when the hybrid first came out, it would no doubt be the biggest selling product in sleep apnea.

After 7 days of using this adaptive flow Hybrid, I looked at the readings from my auto machine. They are about the same as the old Hybrid (to be precise they are a tad lower but I don't think its anything worth analyzing).
But I'm logging straight 8.5 hours of sleep without waking up from any nasal pillow leaks or anything like that. This new headgear is fabulous and I like that this adaptive flow puts more fresh air into my nares.
This has really become an absolutely wonderful mask!!!
Cheers!

Is the new adaptive flow Hybrid available on market or cpap-dot-com? What is the different (appearance) between the new adaptive flow Hybrid and the old design?
Any comment on the noise from the exhalation port as compared with Activa, which one is more quiet?
Thanks for your advise and comments.

I got the adaptive flow Hybrid from the sleep lab, don't know if it is for sale yet on cpap.com.
Visually it is hard to tell much of a difference (except the headgear). The sleep tech showed me the exhaust holes on the new and the old version and the holes on the newer version had a different profile (size and depth) but you have to look very carefully to see the differences.....
One thing I definitely noticed in the manual is that the graph of the passive leak rate vs pressure is very different on the new one compared to the old one.....
Cheers!
