Post by Bouteloua » Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:50 pm

Have been reading the background info about OSCAR but it hasn't come completely clear yet. Here is a recent screenshot.

Would appreciate your critique. /thanks.

Aside from the unhappy numbers, isn't that the sweetest sight ever!
Great big kudos to the Oscar team!
(To Bouteloua: your specific issue will be addressed soon by our experts.)
I am just cheering the crew that made access to this data possible--woot!.

How did you come by these settings?

You for sure need more maximum pressure and might even need more minimum pressure.

The pressure settings of 8 to 10 were determined by a sleep technician during an overnight sleep test in a hospital sleep clinic - the kind with many wires and detectors. During this study, he determined that I stopped breathing 89 times an hour. Once they put a cpap mask on me, I fell into deep sleep like I hadn't gotten for the longest time.

This test was April 27, 2021. I was given a prescription for a cpap and the DME issued me a Dreamstation 2. Only then did I start getting educated about things and reading forums. I have been 100% compliant.

Over the past 9 months of usage, my AHI has trended lower. Perhaps OSCAR and ya'll can help me take it the next step.

I have quit drinking, started doing workouts and experimented with many sleep enhancements - the ones that work best for me are mouth taping, light blocking curtains. I am still fatigued.

OSCAR compatibility with Dreamstation 2??

Post by D.H. » Tue Feb 01, 2022 9:58 am

How did you get that?

I'm still seeing this message, despite having the latest version of OSCAR.

The OSCAR team is conducting an Alpha test on the DS2. We plan for Dreamstation 2 support as the next Major release v1.4.x

Alpha testing of OSCAR's Dreamstation 2 support is being done in a private forum on ApneaBoard. If you have a DS2 machine and would like to participate in DS2 testing, please sign in to ApneaBoard and send a PM to "Gideon," the OSCAR project manager, tell him your interest, what model machine you have, and ask to join the DS2 Beta test team.

Thanks. I did that. Now I'm waiting to hear back.

The current release is fairly useless to me, as I have no data newer than 14-June-2021.

Well, they're too low, that's why your machine is sitting at 10 for so much of the night.

Thank you, pale rider. That was a big help.

Is there any part of this screenshot that I should enlarge for detail?

Nope.

Often, when people want closeups, it's to see if the breathing pattern suggest sleep or awake breathing.

Your traces suggest your minimum pressure is too low and your handcuffing its ability to increase pressure where it needs to go.

Your next step is to increase your minimum and maximum pressures, wait a few days and post another graph.

Yup, I'd increase minimum to 9 and max to 20, just get it out of the way for now and see where the machine tries to go when you're having breathing problems.

All of those repeating spikes actually mean "hey, things look pretty good right now".

Do you have the clinical/provider manual or just the normal user manual?
In the clinical/provider manual should be instructions for getting the secret handshake to where you can change some settings.
If you don't have that manual you can request it here and bet it via email as an attachment.

https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual

Now I am not totally familiar with all the settings available to change within the clinical setup menu but I know some of them have to be done by some sort of "Care Coordinator" for the settings to stick.
One that I know of is Auto on...there are probably others. The "care coordinator" is probably going to be the DME or place you got the machine from.

I haven't looked real closely at the manual...but you might start there.

If you can't change anything and there is no longer a secret handshake to get to the clinical setup menu....another reason why I wouldn't have this machine.
