Register a used Resmed?

Post by gtstricky » Sun Oct 31, 2021 9:07 pm

Anyone know a DME that will register a used AirSense with Resmed using Airview?

When I searched the subject there was a comment made that there was a DME doing it for a fee but they couldn’t remember who. I thought someone here might have knowledge.

If you really want to understand your therapy, the tool to use is Oscar. It takes a bit more effort, but you can see what's happening all night on a breath-by-breath basis. It's a free program, written by apneacs for apneacs. https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

* Download Oscar
* Oscar help
* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ

I have no medical training or qualifications. Take my advice for what it's worth.

I have seen *a lot* of posts asking how one can register a second hand ResMed (with a DME, ResMed or any medical practitioner). Responses have always consistently supported, "You Can't".

If the only response that claims it can be done, is hearsay from someone who can't remember by whom, my credibility meter drops to almost zero.

The only reason it would be registered is if you are on a rental being paid by insurance for compliance. Oscar tells you everything you need to know.

It's registered for warranty purposes.

Warranty--schmarranty!
If you have ever READ a warranty, you will understand that they are
VERY carefully written to be completely useless to the end user.
I knew this when I was TWELVE!
Be sure to get yourself a backup machine.
Cpap machines only quit working at night or on the weekend.
Why do you think DMEs keep "banker's hours"?

...
My S9 came with a 5 year warranty (in Australia). At 4 yr 10 m, Resmed fixed a fault in the humidifier and replaced the motor "just in case". And gave me a brand new machine to tide me over till mine came back. Excellent warranty service in my view.

MyAir has nothing to do with warranty.
A machine is customarily only registered for MyAir for the initial user,
because the dealer needs to be compensated for their trouble.
A rental machine may be pre-owned, and insurance payment might require connection,
but any machine bought elsewhere might need additional payment up front.
Not worth it, since Oscar is FREE.

good to hear it. unfortunately, here in the good ol' united states, a warranty isn't quite so generous. :(
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Careful what you wish for. One of the reason products are so expensive in Australia is because of their much longer warranty.

It would be nice if we could have our good warranty, and reasonable prices, too.
Too many of us oldsters have learned that warranties are for suckers.
Educating the young is an insurmountable task--even if they listened . . .
Add in the frustration; not even trying!
