Do you mean "original" as in "not the M-Series"?
Yes, that's what he means... and he's correct. I just read the manual and found that fact in writing.

If you suffer more from hypopneas like I do, I would set the lower at your titrated pressure of 13 and the upper pressure at like 16. Thought is that the hypopnea is low flow that needs to be maintained and anything else would need the higher pressure.

If that's not the case then I would opt for the lower of 10 to 15 for the comfort of pressure relief. Just a different approach, have fun. Charlie

Well, my first night going to APAP (or I should say AFLEX), was not too bad.

As mentioned, I went 10-15. The machine started up at 10, but it seemed like it was too low of pressure... almost not comfortable.

I also noticed in my graphs (for the first time) I showed some FLI (Flow Limitations). What exactly is that? Could it be because I was using pressure below what I usually use? I had ramp of 5 for 20 minutes before changing to apap, and I never had any values for Flow limitations before, but now I showed 5 for yesterday. My AHI was 1.2 (best value so far).

I'll give this a try for an entire week then re-evaluate.

A Flow Limitation is a "wannabe hypopnea"......but didn't quite make it.
They only show up in the "Auto" mode reports. I wouldn't worry about them.

Glad to hear you had a good night at those settings.

Let me ask a question since we are discussing going from CPAP to APAP.
When I had my sleep study with mask, they discovered that at a pressure of 10cm my apneas ceased, so they prescribed 10 as my setting. I had a ramp feature that went from 4-10 in 45 minutes with CPAP.

I have since at my doctors recommendation gone to an APAP, and have set the parameters between 5-10cm. Most of the night I am at 9.8 or 10.
However, the last time I ran the software for a 15 night stretch, I discovered that I was having an average AHI of 6.9, ( avg for the 15 days) and anywhere from 2.5 up to 6 Apnea events when at a pressure of 10!

I was tested using a nasal mask, but have switched to a full face mask, would that make any difference?

What is causing apneas to occur at 10cm of pressure when during the sleep study there were 0?

I have 890 hours on XPAP right now and am still not sleeping like I think I should.

Jeff

Jeff,

Without having any reports to look at, I would suppose that your events are probably happening at the lower pressures, including the ramp time.
Also, the events may be happening before your pressure rises enough to stop them.
OR, you may have gotten used to the pressure of 10 and need to set your top pressure up a bit.
OR, a combination of various aspects of the above.

Since I've never used a nasal mask, I can't comment on any pressure differences on the different types of masks.
