New user today is my first day using Cpap
Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
how to fix my Hypopnea, you think i should try not to breath twice at the same time but if i sleep i don't know that i do that or you think is the machine is causing this event,
and RERA is because I Snore that why it's cause this, or is it because i get arousal from sleep, that what cause me to wake up a couple of times a night.
thanks

If you can train yourself to not sleep on your back it should bring down the number of hypopneas.

Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
Hi i just fine out that i wake up around 5-8 time a night because i change position and i usually will fall back a sleep in 10-30 second not 1-5mins. Every night i will sleep around 9pm and wake up between 2-4am i will be awake around 5-6 times 10-30 second each time before i fall back a sleep. So i don't want to get up between 2-4am so i stay in bed and I will fall a sleep again and i will fall back asleep like 2 or 3hr after and will wake up at 8am so i will have another 2-3hr of sleep, that how i get around 7-9hrs of sleep a night total or should i just stay up at 2-4am and don't try to go back to sleep at all or should i go sleep later in the night like 12am so that way i don't have sleep twice a night for every night. For last night try to sleep at 9pm but didn't fall asleep until 1am
thanks
thanks

What is Clear Airway means does it mean Central Sleep Apnea , If so should I used Asv Machine better then using Cpap Machine for Clear airway or Sleep Apnea.

It's hard to know how to advise you about your sleep schedule, Viper. But the standard advice is to get up if you're lying in bed awake for more than around 30 minutes. That goes for the beginning of the night and for wake-ups during the night. Do something easy-going, like read in low light or listening to peaceful music, and don't go back to bed until you start feeling sleepy.
Some other thoughts. If you aren't getting up until mid to late morning, then going to bed at nine may be too early. Having regular times for going to bed and getting up is important. Even if you feel short on sleep when it's time to get up, establishing that regular pattern will help your brain cooperate with your efforts to sleep better.
Getting exposure to sunlight during the day can also help with sleep, so be sure to get outdoors several times per day. (I have trouble with that one; during COVID I tend to get glued to my computer screen.)
Your short wake-ups sound pretty normal, and I wouldn't worry about them.
I think it's important to be a good experimenter. That means making one change at a time and giving it a week or so before trying to decide whether it helped. So pick one idea from the variety mentioned above and give it a try for a week, then think about whether it helped. If it didn't, drop it. If it did, keep doing it. Either way, try another idea for a week.

Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
I don't see any reason for you to use an ASV. A lot of those CAs occurred while you were awake. The machine doesn't know whether you're awake or asleep, and awake breathing is a lot more irregular than asleep breathing. CA flags during a period while you're awake are meaningless and you shouldn't worry about them. In addition, many people will have a few CAs while they're asleep -- again, nothing to worry about. Finally, CAs are pretty common during the period when you are making the transition from wakefulness to sleep -- again, nothing to worry about.

Clear Airway is the same as central apnea....no air movement but the airway is open. Hold your breath for 10 seconds.
That's essentially a 10 second central apnea.
You have to be asleep though for any flagged event to be real and obviously your flagged events are happening when you are not asleep.
If you didn't go to sleep until 1 AM....all that stuff flagged prior to 1 AM doesn't count...not real and all it means is you didn't sleep well.
You need to learn how to distinguish between awake breathing and asleep breathing
http://freecpapadvice.com/sleepyhead-free-software
Watch all the videos especially the last one. I know it is talking about central apneas but bear in mind that we can get false positive awake/arousal flagging in any apnea event category.
It's much too soon to be talking about ASV in your situation. After you finally went too sleep you really didn't have enough centrals to worry about. Certainly not enough to need ASV and all those that were flagged prior to 1 AM...they don't count because you weren't asleep.
Your primary problem right now is overall sleep quality...falling asleep and staying asleep. I know it's a tall order and easier said than done.

Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
You need to reread that post carefully.
I was talking about the number of centrals over the entire night for one thing and I was also talking about real asleep centrals for another thing.
I was NOT talking about hourly averages just in case someone is thinking along those lines.
Right now your central apneas are primarily being flagged while awake and the awake time is prolonged so there is a problem with sleep quality in general if you are awake for that prolonged period of time.
Now why you can't sleep...dunno that one but you need to quit focusing on numbers and instead focus on sleep itself.
If you aren't asleep none of this matters.

Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
I think your "numbers" would be a lot better if you omitted the sleep sessions where you know you didn't sleep.
You can turn those sessions off and your numbers will change...scroll down to below the statistics section and note the sleep sessions.
Turn off the known awake time sleep sessions by just clicking on them.
It will give you a better idea how your actual asleep therapy is doing instead of having things muddied up with a lot of awake SWJ flags..sleep/wake/junk.

Re: New user today is my first day using Cpap
Hi,
I have a question, i been talking clonazapam 0.5 for 2.5 months at night to stop my sleep jerk. It’s does help but now I have muscle twitches and muscle spasms in the day time, i twitch all over my body like my hands, arms, feet, legs, head, chest etc...
, Most time I twitch one second but sometimes I twitch for a hour. Now one or two of my area of my body is having cramps. Do you think is the clonazapam is causing me to twitch or is the cpap machine.I heard it could be anxiety that causing muscle twitches.
Thx

Talk to the doctor who prescribed it - not our place to comment or guess about that.
But it's not the machine!
