Okay, so this is Veteran's day and all, I wouldn't normally post this, but hey.

I spent a lot of time in the Military. All the ribbing that goes on here isn't Sh**. You want to get ribbed? We call it getting Smoked in the Army. That is some professional level "ribbing". We do it when someone drops their weapon. We do it when someone doesn't adjust the headspace and timing on their automatic weapon. We do it when someone doesn't adjust their protective mask and sucks up a bunch of CS and is puking in their mask. We smoke them when they can't get their uniform squared away.

Its all about attention to detail - and here is why we do it - attention to detail keeps you alive in the military. I worked as a Drill Sergeant. I've got some experience smoking people.

There is nothing you can do on this forum that comes close to the smoking I've gotten in that prior job.

So don't thank me for my service, I volunteered for the job, I knew what I was doing, I did my job, I got paid, I got to go home, I get to grow old, we're even. Its the guys that didn't get to go home that aren't even, their families aren't squared with the Government. They'll never be even, never be squared up, their account will never be made even. Those guys I did first aid on that didn't make it are the ones I think about on Memorial Day, they are the veterans I think about today.

Anyway, back to the fun of losing that attention to detail as I age. Thank God I get to get old and need a CPAP.

You are a fast learner with a great attitude. I predict you will go far with this new way of learning to sleep.
Attitude is huge.

And since you don't want to be lumped in with the ones who get thanked for their service how about I just thank you for doing your job and doing it well and coming out of it with great attitude? You were lucky and you are smart enough to know it and appreciate the fact.

I wonder how many cases of lung cancer resulted from the only way a guy could get a break
was to use cancer sticks. The bullfrog had quit--but started again out of exhaustion.
If only they could sue the Army . . .

For years they came free in "C" Rations WWII on. Don't want to blame Free Will, In Nam, the First Inf Div was sent Corn Cob Pipes and Cherry Blend (My Favorite) we all smoked it up, then we all threw it away, none of us mechanics smoked except for that, we had Free Will. You didn't hang with people that smoked either, it gave your location away and made you a target... Lack of light control kills faster than Cancer. :o Jim
