My sleepyhead data

Post by RedxStL » Tue Jul 30, 2019 5:27 pm

Hi all, new to forum. Made a post on here viewtopic/t176549/Issues-sleeping-for-p ... onths.html

One member suggested getting sleepyhead to post my data. This is what I took screen shots of. Any insight on what this means because I am lost and do you need other screen shots of different reports

You need to first thing work on your leak management.
All those gray areas on the graphs....that's large leak and there's a lot of it and well beyond what the machine can compensate for.
It's massive and prolonged.

Do you by chance have a beard?

First off I am no expert. I am only qualified to help somewhat.
In the future you need to keep your posts in one thread. Helps the experts to know how your therapy progresses.
When posting your graphs put them in this order.
Events
Flow rate
Pressure
Leak Rate
Flow Limit

That said, your leak rate seems to be pretty bad.
I know nothing about your machine so I will stop at that.

Someone with more knowledge than me (there are many here) will show up and help you figure things out.

While typing I see Pugsy arrived (She is the BEST on here). Your are in good hands. :D

Good Luck,
JPB

No beard. So leaks probably from my mask?

If we can't blame the leak on facial hair that leaves skin to silicone as the culprit.
I don't think you ever really have a decent seal and then once you go to sleep and facial muscles relax and you toss and turn it's doomed.

I would wonder if you are using the correct size cushion for one thing.
Did anyone ever measure you for sizing?
Have you watch any fitting videos to see where you may be going wrong if you are in the correct size.
The Quattro can be a beast until you get the hang of it.
Check out you tube for fitting videos.

Forum member Janknitz did a nice write up about her experience with it and some hints she found helped her manage it better.
https://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/tamin ... e-quattro/

The sizing guide can be printed off if you were never measured
https://5faacd0c97cf0d23c6dc-064f3cd61b ... mplate.pdf

Finally it may not be the best mask for your overall facial structure. Might need to try something else.

How come you are using the full face mask? Do you have chronic problems with nasal congestion that simply force you to mouth breathe?

I cannot breathe out of my nose so full face was my only option. I went threw probably 8 masks before finding this one that leaked the least or not at all. I'm guessing it's leaking more than I know and it's loosing the pressure I need and also waking me up.

I've been using this mask for a couple years. It's a large size but I do have a big head 😂

Tightened up my mask last night and the first half of the night I slept decent then it went downhill. I sweat easily even though I have my ac turned low, I wonder if the sweating is part of the issue with air leak

It's very possible that the sweat plays a factor. It mixes with facial oils that also are secreted during the night and tend to accumulate and later on the seal just gets broken more easily.

Try a mask liner (you can make one or buy one) and see if the liner will absorb some of that sweat and facial oil enough to keep the mask from sliding around.

Just placed a order for a mask liner. Says 1-2 weeks so might be a little bit before I get to see if any difference. Willing to try anything before dealing with another sleep study or different equipment.

Thanks for the suggestion and info

Padacheek is owned by a really sweet lady, who's a member here, and she, and her company, really want to help people do better with their cpap masks... not just make a quick buck on them like other companies do.

She makes a good, *REUSABLE* product that lasts, not something that's "ONLY A DOLLAR A DAY!".. for scraps of t-shirt material.

I endorse her whole heartedly.

I agree. When my wife first started treatment, I had them make my wife a hose cover in a color they normally don't do. She sent everything to me before my wife even got a machine to use. If you need something special made, they will work with you.

Got my padacheek yesterday. It's really comfortable but seemed to cause a lot of air leaks that make the wonderful farting noises. Of course I know I have a issue with leaks from the data I posted but the leaks never woke me up from making noises like this. I tried tightening the mask and adjusting the straps but didn't seem to make a difference. Just sent an email to padacheek to see if they have any recommendations. Any other suggestions from you all? 😩

About all I have left is try a different mask.

Sorry....I have essentially zero experience with full face masks. I don't have much in my bag of tricks to offer except for what I have already offered which was other peoples ideas on how to tame leaks with the Quattro.

What masks have you tried?
