have you been using flonase? a squirt before bed time can do the trick.
No I haven’t purchased it yet. I have been to Costco but I had to purchase $50.00 worth and until I know it works, I didn’t want that much. It wasn’t sold at the next 2 grocery stores I went to - probably too organic of a store to sell Flonase. I’ll go to a drug store today.

copy that. chunkyfrog here has suggested dental cleaning tablets to clen mask vent on a p10.

but i can ONLY find them in multiple packs.

i'm too cheap to buy a BUNCH until i know ONE works!
:D
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Google "cpap rhinitis". Start reading.

You may or may not need humidity and the amount may be a little or a lot. Humidity needs vary widely with the individual.
When the nasal mucosa get unhappy....either dried out or too moist...they react by swelling up and causing congestion and sometimes some very nasty allergy like symptoms.....congestion, drainage, itchy, sneezy, etc.

Most people will need a little added moisture though and some people end up needing a lot of added moisture.
You just have to play around with it to see what your nose likes and wants.

I live near the ocean in California. It has been foggy since March and still every morning and night. I’m pretty sure our humidity is high this year. I get my baby chick humidity check. I haven’t been using it at all- the air felt cold on my face all night - exhalation and some mask leaks. It was my first night of mask leaks for a week. That was discouraging. OA 16 CA7 H13. Ahi was under 5 still.

I did the Flonase last night. I didn’t wake up congested in the middle of the night so that was good.

I didn’t feel rested when I woke up. That was a bummer. Even tho my DreamMapper & Fitbit said otherwise.

Little by little. I have some stress because I’m going on
trip. I’ll start a new thread to get advice on that.

I purchased the Flonase and I could breathe all thru the night. I did 2 squirts as directed. Slept good but my eyes and face looked weird. I also had a bout of runny nose during the day while golfing. Literally like a full on cold. I haven’t had allergies like that in years and I golfed at this place 2 days ago plus I live in so cal and nothing blooms in a desert in the summer. Though I just slept on the pillow weird w my mask.

2nd day- today, it looks like I’ve been used as a punching bag. My face is so swollen. Under my eyes are almost black and blue. It is awful. I must be having some type of reaction. So although it worked for my nasal congestion- I’m out on the Flonase. Any other suggestions?

Au contraire, my dear.
Almost everything in the desert blooms, but some blossoms are green, or tiny, or gone in a flash.
Pollen is everywhere--it travels on the wind, farther than we can imagine.
Climate change happens with or without human intervention.
Consider an antihistamine--it changed my life.

So interesting thought on the not large enough leak. That could be true. It blows off my nose area. The silicone is very thin and once it starts to leak there I have to shut my
my machine down to the lower rate to be able to get it leak free again.
I'm not sure if padacheek.com makes a mask liner for the dreamwear, but if they do, I'd suggest trying one, it'll tame those annoying leaks.

Is padacheek a website, a member of this site, or a product? I’d try anything except taping my mouth closed. The thought of that seems like a violent crime ... nope. Nope. Nope. 🤣

Well, I haven’t had any episodes of allergies, asthma, or even runny nose or cough (for 4 years) until I started my cpap.

I have tried Zyrtec, Azelastine, saline Nettie, blah blah blah. The Flonase was the latest suggestion. Whaaaa 😢

Padacheek is a website and a product line - they make liners for the masks and covers for straps.

Yes, yes, and yes. Padacheek.com is a website, the owner of padacheek is a member here, Karen, and padacheek is one of her products.

Google "cpap rhinitis" and start reading.

You may need an adjustment to your humidity setting so that your nasal mucosa are happier.
When they are unhappy they tend to give a person some very nasty allergy like symptoms.
Humidity needs are highly individualized...some people need a lot of added moisture and some people need much less. You may just need to play around with the humidity settings to find something that your nasal mucosa are happy with.

I have upped my max to 15 and it was steady at 90% was under 13 so I left it. This week it has risen to 14.5 so I will raise my maximum to 20 tonight.

I feel braver, less like I’m sticking my head out of a plane but I still stress a little about 30 min before bed.

I also have had some issues w swimming lately. Worried that I’m out of breath while in the middle of a lap. Not sure what’s that about. Breathing ... it’s so important. 🤣🤣🤣

Still struggle w the congestion on some nights. Flonase is my enemy. (Puffed Up like I had a round w Mohammed Ali) so that is now in the trash.

All in all- I feel like I’ve made great strides with the help of this forum. Big Thanks!! 👏👏👏
