Resmed on full pressure always?

Post by Delta_Dave » Wed Jul 03, 2019 11:33 pm

I'm about 2 weeks in as a new CPAP user and still adjusting. I have a Resmed airsense 10 autoset with full face mask. Last night I noticed pressure in my ears when I put on my mask to go to sleep. Not just ear popping, but constant pressure in my ears. I had pressure in my ears all night and woke up with a terrible sinus/ear headache. Tonight before bed I tried to adjust the pressures in the Clinician menu. It seems like air pressure is on full and the mask is constantly "pillowed" against my face. It wasn't like this before. When I started with this machine, it started at 4. I felt like I was suffocating. I adjusted the pressure to 6 and have been there for several prior nights. EPR is on and is on 3, the original setting. Now there does not seem to be any difference when I adjust from 4-20. It just feels like it's on full. It is set to Auto not CPAP. Is it broken? Is the Doctor's office able to change settings remotely and they changed it? I can't sleep with it on tonight with this high pressure and the pressure in my ears.

You can't go by what it feels like, especially if you're new to CPAP.
  • Read the pinned topics,
  • Download OSCAR,
  • Post some charts,
You'll probably find that the pressure wasn't near full.

Do you actually NEED the high setting of EPR?

Is the correct mask type chosen in the menu? Undo everything and plug it all back together. Make sure the AB filter is turned off as well if you're not using one.

The mask should be "pillowed"against your face. It fills with air and makes a seal. It should NOT be worn tight. Because you adjusted the pressure to 6 (Assume minimum) you have no idea what the average pressure was all night. 6 is just the starting pressure if you are set on auto,

It's a Comfort Setting, If you use it or not, the relief you like is totally up to you. It's a setting you can play with is you are so inclined, its not a live or die thing. Jim

Apparently, we can all use a little more slobber in our lives, as long as it's doggie sourced.

To help with the ear pressure, chew some gum or suck on mints. Obviously can't do that with the mask on, so do it when you take the mask off. Make sure the device is set to APAP and not CPAP.
