Mask Leakage with higher preassure

Post by babybear » Thu May 02, 2019 6:34 am

My average pressure used to be around 6 with the auto Dreamstation but now that I have the Airsense 10 for her and I am getting the proper treatment, my pressure is now averaging 12. However, now I am having problems with alot of mask leakage. I use the LT Swift for her nasal pillows and I have tried other nasal cushions but they all leak and wake me up. I also tried the Dreamwear FFM and I still have problems. I don't feel like 12 is that high a pressure so I am perplexed as to why I keep leaking. It seems like I solve one problem and it creates another. Can anyone offer any help please. Thank you for your time in advanced. :)

Have a look for you tube videos on mask fitting - google your mask name.

You can also search on here for that mask - use the search box at the top left of the screen just under where it says Cpaptalk.com

Leaks are a problem with nearly all masks - if you plug the leaks from around your mask, the air starts to leak out of your mouth, or your ears.....or elsewhere.

Keep persevering.

A small amount of leak is no problem - some people use mask liners which use that idea - a reasonable amount of leak that you can sleep through.

Leaks that wake you up are the worst.

Welcome. I am at high pressures and finding a mask that doesn't leak was my biggest challenge. The dme kept giving me medium masks. I found when I went down a size to the small cushions and got the smaller "for her" headgear that helped a lot. I wear the nasal N-20 mask because it seems to fit my face well. Everyone is a little different. Finding the mask that works best for you can be challenging. Some people find that mask liners help. I've heard really good things about the bleep/dreamport mask not leaking.

There is a review thread on it here: viewtopic/t174807/BleepDreamPort-nasal- ... hread.html

Good luck!
Just in case you missed it in the other thread.

Mask fit needs to be adjusted in your sleep position AT the pressure you will be using while being treated, not ramp or start of APAP setting . It need to be set at the pressure you use for treatment, Jim
