I have a Respironics SystemOne 460P. I’ve had two issues recently and was looking for some advice.
1) When connected to the humidifier, the unit will power off and give and error message after about 1-2 hours of use. I tried removing the cover and put some foam pieces in to provide a better seal on the pressure sensors, but that didn’t help. If I run it without the humidifier, it works fine.
2) I travel somewhat regularly overseas and have never had problems on 220V/230V power supplies. But this last trip, when in Vietnam and Cambodia, the unit would turn on for 1-2 seconds and then the power would just cut out. I thought the unit itself had died but then on the plane and when I got back to the US, it worked fine. I use the original power supply rated for 100V-240V.
Is a new power supply a good troubleshooting step? Anyone else with similar experiences or other ideas?
Electrical Problems - PR 460P
Re: Electrical Problems - PR 460P
If the power supply is in proper working condition, any voltage from 100 to 240 (and probably even slightly outside that range) should work. Also, either 50 hz or 60 hz should be good.
My best guess (especially if this happened more than one accommodation) is that you power supply is not working properly, but you're "getting away with it" at 110 volts.
However, if this one happened at one accommodation, that accommodation is suspect!
BTW, did you every use it (or attempt to use it) on an aircraft? Sometimes, the power is 400 hz, and I'm not sure that that's compatible.

Re: Electrical Problems - PR 460P
It was at 3 different accommodations, so the “getting away with it” possibility seems probable. It did work on the aircraft, although I didn’t realize the difference in Hz. I’m wondering if using it on board may have had a negative impact on the power supply. Either way it seems like swapping it out is a good bet.D.H. wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 3:07 pmIf the power supply is in proper working condition, any voltage from 100 to 240 (and probably even slightly outside that range) should work. New power supply and now the humidifier works again. I’ll be able to test overseas on 220V in about a month. Looks like that was the issue.
Re: Electrical Problems - PR 460P
So the most likely explanation is that you tried to use it on an aircraft and damaged it. Please don't do this again unless you're sure that the electricity is 50hz or 60hz, or that the new power supply is clearly compatible with 400hz.
BTW, I'm not aware of any country on Earth that uses other than 50hz or 60hz (on Mars all bets are off
