Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Hey guys its me again. Sleep has been OK overall. I had the pressure set up higher but then I turned it down to 5-10 because I kept getting woken up, and when I woke up I found the pressure was so high it was impossible to get back to sleep. So I would quickly turn the machine on/off to reset the pressure then drift back to sleep. I then noticed that this was also happening at the 5-10 cm/H20 range. You can see it in last nights graph here.
The other thing that was happening at the really higher pressures is that I am burping a lot. I will wake up and notice myself burping every breath.
My question is, since I'm waking up anyway sometimes, is it better to just set the pressure higher, say 5-20 or what was suggested earlier, on the assumption that the machine will not go up that high anyway unless its needed, and if it can't go up that high because its not set that high, the apnea will wake up up anyway?

have you tried using the epr(exhale pressure relief) setting on your machine?

No this is the first Im hearing about it. What setting would one reccomend?

What overall pressure settings would one reccomend with use of the epr?

I recommend whatever works for you... Experiment to find out what feels best, for you.

You're right, but he doesn't get the full effect of the epr till his pressure gets up to 7 or more.Sleepygal1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 12:50 pmLooking at the SH graph, I think he's already using EPR at 3 (the highest setting) since there are 2 pressure lines 3cmH2O apart.

I think I might experiment with the surgery option. This stuff has been so hit and miss. 1 or 2 days good for every 4 bad it seems. Im tired.I recommend whatever works for you... Experiment to find out what feels best, for you

please read this thread and do some searching on UPPS-

surgical remedies for sleep apnea aren't well regarded here.

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Yes that certainly looks like it might not be the magic pill I was looking for. I have talked with 2 people who have said the surgeries they have had it was like night and day and they sleep the night away and wake up feeling great every day.
I think I'll make an appointment with the sleep doctor. I haven't seen him since I started CPAP maybe a year ago. Things just started getting worse for me in the past month or so. Its frustrating. I know that feeling of having a full night sleep and I wake up and I feel euphoric, motivated, social... all day long. Every day I know can be like that. Or most days. I know its possible. Maybe one of those dental appliances.
This thing came out of nowhere for me I'm still trying to understand. Maybe it has something to do with my nose too. Im always stuffed up, always. Even when Im not sick. I don't sleep on my back either. I'm not overweight. I feel like theres something I'm missing

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Hi guys its me again; I went to the doctor sometime early March, and she said we should do the variable pressure settings as you guys had suggested. So we set it to 5-8, she told me to try it out for a week then well look at the data again. After one week we decided to switch it to 5-9 with a 45 minute ramp up.
I want to say that the last month of sleep (in general) has been far and above better than any time I can remember in the past 2 years when this stuff started happening. My sleep success rate has been like 95%. I wake up feeling great, blah blah blah
Well, the past 4 nights in A ROW have been bad. I can distinctly remember waking up, and turning over to my other side. When I do this, I stop and restart the machine, because its easier to fall asleep when the pressure is low.
I don't know what the cause of this is. But it looks like every 1.5 hours I am waking up. And its not correlated with any apnea event. You can see in the graphs the pressure doesn't get anywhere near 9, and theres never an apnea event associated with this wake up. Its definitely taking its toll on me, I feel now like I normally do when I don't wear the mask or have interrupted sleep.
Has anyone seen this before or know what the cause may be? This kind of came out of left field and I don't know what to attribute it to. Everything else in my life has stayed the same.
I uploaded graphs from the last 4 nights. Some of these nights I took a nap earlier in the day, and I think on two of the nights I was having trouble falling asleep so I started to doze without the mask on and didn't get it on before I fell asleep.
Any comments appreciated. Im really hoping this doesn't happen again tonight I feel like total garbage.
Thanks so much. I included Tuesday nights graph for comparison, which is a night I slept so well. So there's Tuesday night, then Wed+Thurs+Fri+Sat which were bad....

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Last night was a little bit better, but just a little bit. I can feel the drag this morning for sure. I remember waking up once and NOT resetting the pressure, so I woke up at least one more time then this graph indicates. I also took the mask off after 7 hours 47 minutes and slept one more hour, and I still don't feel recharged. Its that feeling of not getting the deep sleep and its because Im waking up but I don't know why

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Can you do some zoom shots of the 2 or 3 minutes just before you switch off the machine - I think it may be a combination or events and pressure rising to deal with events that is waking you, but I can't really see, and I am for sure no expert.
Perhaps the zoom shots will help - Make sure the "switch off" is at the right hand side of the zoomed screen shot.
