Update: I called secondwindcpap earlier to ask about the hours and machines, and happened to speak with Mark, the owner (you got the name right, Pugsy!). He was SUPER nice and helpful, and I ended up purchasing a machine from them. That other CS rep was right, though, that the lowest they have right now it 1558 hours. But I decided to go with them, a company that is totally legit, and that seems very customer service oriented.

Thank you recommending them! :)

Let me tell a little story about just how nice Mark and his company is.
A few years ago I was helping a guy in Australia and he needed a special model machine for his needs...ASV and back then they were scarce as hens teeth but Mark had 2 of them. I asked him to set aside the one with the lowest hours for my guy in Australia.
Then I told the guy which model ASV to buy....well he clicked on the wrong product and ended up buying totally the wrong machine.
He didn't find it out until he got the machine and it didn't have the available settings that were needed.
I called up Mark and come to find out he was still holding that one ASV for the guy and he was wondering why the guy hadn't ordered it.
My guy simply clicked on the wrong machine and back then...it was an easy mistake to make.

Anyway...Mark immediately overnighted (or as best you can with international sales) the correct machine to the guy without making the guy wait until the wrong machine was returned to their facility...and didn't charge him any more than the slight difference in price between the 2 models.

That's just one story...and not the only story of Mark going above and beyond what is needed to help people. It is one that I had personal involvement in.

So for that reason alone....if I had to choose between them and some other place selling used machines...even if their products were slightly higher in price....they would get my business. I know for a solid fact that they will bend over backwards for their customers and it doesn't matter if the screw up is customer user error or not.

Yes, that is my philosophy as well. I wasn't even sure I was ready to pull the trigger today, but he came across as such a stand-up guy, he was so nice and helpful, that I decided to give him my business and just go with that machine, which is so highly recommended. And I feel at ease about it because if something is wrong I know he'll stand behind it. That is worth a lot, in my book.

And FYI, I decided to just start out with the mask that you and many people seem to love, the Resmed AirFit P10. I bought it from cpap.com, as a thank you for providing this forum. :)

cpap.com is a stand up place too. I have personally had to return a new machine (2 months old) to them due to warranty issues. It was a relatively painless procedure.
They only deal in new machines....no used or refurbished stuff.
Each place of business has their own unique place in the sale of cpap stuff.

And yes...the P10 is a hot seller in the nasal pillow department. It's about as next to nothing as anything currently out there.
Watch for my upcoming review (Bleep/DreamPort) on a new mask slated for release in a couple or three weeks. It's next to nothing too. Review to be posted in a day or so...just needs a little more polish to it. I have been so busy haven't had quite enough time to check for typos and make sure my thoughts are conveyed in words like I am really thinking them.

LSAT and a few others here tend to find good machines to sell to forum users.

Just another idea.
Tried that route already. No luck. But thanks.
Too impatient?

That's not the "for her" model, which is what I want, given my particular case. Otherwise, I would have totally jumped on it! :)

They normally test for odors on the used machines....perhaps the person who tested it had a sense of smell different from your nose.
Maybe to that person they couldn't smell anything unusual for any number of reasons.
Or maybe it simply slipped past their odor detector person.

They don't want stinky machines and in fact if you look at the requirements they put forth for submitting used machines to them for them to buy....they plainly state...no heavy perfumes or cigarette smoke.

I know it's probably not much consolation to you but you are the first that I have heard of with a problem with a stinky machine from them.

Well, to update... I'm no longer so happy that I bought from Secondwind.
Don't you think it's rather unfair to post something like that before you've even communicated with the company in question?

Given all the factors involved, I don't think it was.
One of the biggest factors to consider is customer service.

Your criticism occurred before you even gave them an opportunity to address your concern. Then when you did contact them, their customer service appeared fantastic.

So yeah, your criticism was premature.

Fine. I don't necessarily agree, but I deleted my comments. Everyone is welcome to do the same, so no mention of the incident exists, or, a moderator has my blessing to delete this entire thread, as I messed up by posting/asking about another company to begin with (out of newbie ignorance).
