Mostly Centrals
Re: Mostly Centrals
Ok, what do you think, then? Try ps0 with the new machine? would that be equivalent to my old machine? If that doesn't work, different machine? Thank you for your help.

Ok, ps 0 attached. It is better, but maybe not enough?

Re: Mostly Centrals
Not nearly enough, you're going to need a different machine to avoid what are probably some significant o2 desaturations...

Re: Mostly Centrals
Ok, any recomendations of machines?
Maybe a dumb question: Is my apnea worse with this machine or better with nothing until I get a new one? Thank you.

Resmed s9 adapt, or aircurve 10 asv.

Re: Mostly Centrals
Could you give an example of a prescription for the resmed aircurve 10 asv auto (that's the one you recommended). My dr kept getting it wrong on the 1st one. I know it will only be an example, I will talk to the dr. Here's my prescription for the current one:
auto bipap setup
min eppap = 8
max ipap = 25
min ps 4
max ps 8
dx: osa
What would it look like on the asv?
Or if you could tell me recommended settings, that would be better.

Re: Mostly Centrals
Well, putting "Aircurve 10 asv" on the rx would help.zzzk wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 4:58 pmCould you give an example of a prescription for the resmed aircurve 10 asv auto (that's the one you recommended). Re: Mostly Centrals
Thank you very much for all of your help. I've been having a hard time with this for years. Hopefully an asv will solve it.
Just so I understand a little more. When I changed the ps to 0, was it then technically no longer a bipap, but only an auto machine between pressure ranges, the same for inhale and exhale? Or not?

Re: Mostly Centrals
Well, it's technically still a bilevel machine.
It was a bilevel that was acting the as an auto cpap.
The difference between 'bilevel' and 'cpap' function gets vague with 'exhale relief' on cpaps and low PS on the bilevels.
But, in essence, your understanding is spot on.

Re: Mostly Centrals
Well, it's only the first night with my new ASV, and I still only sleep for 1-2 hours, then awake 1/2 hour or so, then sleep 1-2 hours again... But my AHI is down to 0 !!!! Wild swings in pressure...

Re: Mostly Centrals
All those wild swings are the machine preventing centrals.

Re: Mostly Centrals
Holy crap, well done PR, all those centrals just *poofed*.
Glad you got it figured out zzzk!

Re: Mostly Centrals
Thank you very much! I'm trying not to get too excited too soon, but it looks like it may be fixed with this machine / mask! I've been dealing with this for about 20 years! Has this tech come around only recently?
Re: Mostly Centrals
In the overall scheme of things, yes, the asv is one of the most recent "big things", the other is *VAPS. Both respond breath by breath. The first asvs started appearing in the 2000s. The earliest had an extra tube running back to the machine to directly measure mask pressure.zzzk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 10, 2018 2:11 pmThank you very much! As far as your machine is concerned, you can't have a central, because when your tidal volume decreases, it boosts pressure support to maintain your ventilation. You can see this in action I'd you bring the mask pressure chart up under flow rate, and then zoom in (up arrow) enough to see the individual breaths.
