Sore peeling nares

Post by cflame1 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 6:02 pm

Ok so maybe this sounds strange... hadn't happened with my swift but now that i've been using the hybrid for a number of months. My nose has been sore and peeling, at times cracking. HH makes no difference... this isn't inside... it's right on the outside.

I've tried chapstick, oils and lotions during the day, ayr... any other bright ideas? I've had to use a UMFF in order to just be able to sleep 'cause anything pushing on the end of my nose just aches.

I've got new pillows on order to see if that's maybe the problem.

At times it either looks like I've been snorting something or that I've got a sinus infection (not like I usually get a whole pile of symptoms that I recognize with those). Just not a good impression to make at work.

You might try Neosporin Plus during the daytime to help with the healing.
Good Luck!

When the ayr gel and chapstick didn't seem to be working for me I tried the LANSINOH. It's 100% lanolin, comes in a 2 oz tube(that will last almost forever), and is for breast feeding mothers. The good news is it works on nares too! Used it one night and all soreness was gone.

Since it is the outside of the naresI would suggest Neosporin complete, during the day, at night, like Brenda said, lanolin would be good.

Did you wash the hybrid well so there is no material from the production process you are allergic to.

Just got back from the doctor... she says that the stuff with my nose, is some kind of bacterial infection. Some name that I couldn't remember, let alone spell. So I now have some cream for it, it's supposed to clear up in 10 days.

Hi Cflame,

thanks for giving us an update, I hope it heals quickly and you feel better soon.

Is it Impetigo caused either by staphylococcus bacteria or streptococcus bacteria.

Sometimes broken skin will get the staphylococcus bacteria infection.

I am curious, but your post sends home the message to be careful about sores. It may be serious and to follow our better judgement and see a doctor, if we think it may be more then a little thing.

Thank you.

Good luck.

A while back, about a month before I started using CPAP, I had a problem with sores inside my nose. My internist said it was a bacterial overload, and gave me Bactroban nasal ointment.

A substitute pharmacist gave me regular Bactroban cream, which didn't seem to work as well.

My dermatologist then gave me Bactroban nasal, and it seemed to clear things right up in about 10 days.

Now, about 8 months later, I have a small sore spot on the edge of the nare near the tip of my nose. I saw my internist today and he referred me to an ENT. He suggested that the ENT might burn the spot off, somehow.

If that happens, I will have had the inside of each nostril cauterized with a caustic substance more than once PLUS this lesion "burned" off.

How interesting, cflame1, that you posted this today! I'll keep you posted!

My sore spots are right at the top of the external nares, and I swab with Neosporin two or three times a week. I'm going to try the suggested nasal oinkment to see if I can actually get rid of it. Thanks!

But it's an excellent impression to your supervisor:
You've just had your nose to the grindstone too long! Tell him/her to let up a little!.

Well Birdshell this is an intresting post.

I was to see the ENT last Friday, but need to wait until this Friday. There is a hard mass on the inside of one of my nostrils at almost the tip. I am using the polyspoirin complete for the sores inside the nostrils, and on this spot/lump until Friday. The rest of the sores are healing nicely.

I am wondering what will the ENT say. If it needs to be removed what will I do with my Nasal Aire II. Yikes.

Please, please do not take my post with the name of the nasal ointment as a recommendation! It was a prescription given me by two different doctors.

It may NOT be appropriate treatment for your problems!

Birdshell,
It's the same script that my doc gave me for mine as well... I've got the ointment.

It's an antibiotic cream.

When my husband first got his nasalaire II , some little gel that was wonderful! I ordered mine much later and it didn't come with it anymore. It looked like a little sample of something.
Dose anyone know what it was? My husband doesnt even remember getting the gel.I would love to get a big tube of it now that we both use the Hybrid.

Hi Sidesleeper,

I just happened to read this yesterday.

We have integrated Roezit® with the Nasal-Aire. This non-petroleum based lubricant can be used for nasal dryness and skin irritation.

I got it from the link:

http://www.innomedinc.com/content/accessories

Here is a link for the cream. http://www.roezit.com/

I have not used it and know nothing about the cream. I was looking for info about it. I will look some more.
