Earl see if she will cut us a deal on some of her vacant stalls.

Hey, Mike, splendid idea! From the shot she shared, she has PLENTY of space for us.

And, knowing how RG loves those dogs, bet the kennels are pretty plush and also cleaner than some of the motels in which I have lodged.

Plus, animal lovers could bring along their pets, too--well, some of them anyway. Scooping a little extra poop is no problem. With many hands, there would be light work and more time to PARTAY! We might even be able to help scrubbing and hosing down the kennels. (I'm a Pisces so I like the water chores.)

It would be similar to a hostel; as I recall dimly, we had to do some cleaning up before leaving at the European ones.)

The only problem I could see is: I don't scoop people poop, so we may need to set up Porta-Potties.

Let me see,

We can party on a cruise ship, go to a resort, or we can scoop poop in a kennel

Earl, you are probably wondering WHAT EVER POSESSED YOU TO BOOK TRAVEL PLANS FOR THIS GROUP!

Off,

I, too, have mucked out stables. Of course, that was when I was young and in love--with horses. (Why do girls seem to go through that phase?)

Offerocker, we can bunk ONLY if I get the top one. I've gotten quills caught in the springs of the upper bunk while occupying the lower just ONE TOO MANY times! Besides, as sisters in nickname/avatar we will probably HAVE to be in the bird section; Rooster may have to be there with us, as well as NightHawkEye!

Now, for anyone saying that a kennel will not have two levels: Have you SEEN some of the dog kennels lately? RG has said that they are state of the art, and they had to be large enough for some really large Rottweilers.

RG, just hope you have enough plugs for all of those machines! I'll be looking for a really long extension cord.

Not just any poop, RG's certified pedigreed poop.

...sounding good.
You may have the top bunk - as long as none of your quills drop down through your "mattress" - but, what are friends for anyway?

Won't it be ironic: The DOGS will be the only ones SNORING for a change!
I bet you'll have some admirers too, Birdshell; you DO look like a hybrid! ---I mean a PEDIGRE! And I'm "Certified" !

When you have tallied the results of the surveys and have decided on a direction, please do post the trip details - for those of us who are intrigued by the idea but not sure enough to join the strong base group initiating it! I, for one, love the idea, but the chances of me being Stateside at the same time as the trip are not big. But, who knows! So keep us posted, puleeeese!

Lori / RocknRoll,

Just read this thread & think it is a great idea. Just wish USA was a bit closer to Australia & I have already committed to meet up some other xpapers in Seattle in Sept 2007 so am saving pennies (or is it bars of gold) to do that trip.

Now if L.I. was actually where Catalina is (or any of the islands off WA) I would have no hesitation in setting up a visit.

But, I was thinking to offer a bet that if RG was willing to engineer a way to show up along with a public and binding promise to turn up, I would find a way to get to it, but that may be unfair (hevan knows I have always fancied RG - even offered to marry her last year) but she was honest enough to say that even despite the fact that I already have a wife, she would probably decline - ahh gee some of us people just lack that extra charisma

Anyway, I think the idea may just fly & I am fully supportive. Maybe I will put up that bet once I know the dates - there are so many things RG and I could chat about in that fun filled environment. It is even possible we might discover that neither of us has horns & pointed tails - BUT I can't say I am sure about that Moran character - God only knows what really lurks beneath the apparently benign covers there

Cheers & good luck

DSM,

Subtlety! Subtlety, my friend. You probably scared RG off. And nothing like a little gentle persuasion to make a girl change her mind. I'll bet as soon as she reads this one, she'll be the first to make a solid commitment to this excursion, regardless of the plans, after that no-pressure approach (ahem).

May I just gently (GENTLY) ask you to reconsider saving some extra pennies, if at all possible, and trying to be on the trip? There are many who would like to meet you, I being one of them. NO PRESSURE HERE...

Well, you never know, maybe Australia can be a destination for one of our trips. I for one do want to do a cruise around Australia and NZ not too far in the future.

For those of you who want results published on the survey, I plan on doing it around Oct. 1st. I want to give everybody a vote if they have an interest. I do want to say that we have had a lot of interest and surveys keep coming in. We do have enough to make it happen even if half of the participants of the survey don't decide to go. I urge everyone to contact friends on the list and urge them to get involved and also anybody is welcome to join us, friends, family, etc. The larger the group, the better deal I can put together. I will put together three choices based on the surveys and offer it up to the list in early October and then we need to make commitments soon thereafter. For a group, the farther out we book, the better the price we get. Also, I have found after 30 years of sales and marketing, if we let the momentum fall, it won't happen. I really want this to happen more so now than ever now that I have been receiving notes and comments and the surveys. We have some really great members and I can't wait to meet ya'll.

For those that can't make this trip for whatever reason, we certainly can plan another one down the road. [/i]

WoW, a real cruiser! You do know that they most likely can be changed if you were to want to.
