Me too, I had an M series auto without the humidifier, worked fine for several years like that, then I bought the humidifier and attached it.
Eazy peazy no problem. You should believe folks on this forum when they say something, they are USUALLY right, especially Pugsy and PALERIDER .
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Why does Amazon seller not require Rx?

Question: Is a prescription required? Ive been using my cpap for 4 years and its quit working, the dr said i had to do another sleep study $$$$.
Answer: Dear Customer, It is not required. Since this is an Auto CPAP, it will auto titrate and find your pressure.

I think there's another approach to your problem. You wrote that you're "... tired of my CPAP machine taking up so much room in my suitcase ...". There's a simple solution to that. DON'T PUT YOUR CPAP IN YOUR SUITCASE!. You should NEVER put a cpap in checked-luggage. Also, for travel on most airlines (and all airlines in the USA) a cpap does not count as part of your carry-on luggage allowance? Thus, your luggage problem is solved.

FYI, I have an M-Series apap, just like your's. I use it exclusively as my travel cpap precisely because I feel its form-factor is more friendly for travel than my daily-use apap machine (a Respironics System One auto). I've traveled all over Europe, North America, the Caribbean, and to Hawaii with it.

Also, to corroborate what others have said, you can separate the blower unit from the humidifier and still use the machine. A small plastic adapter is needed (you should have been given one with the machine when you bought it).

Having typed all of this, if this M Series is your only apap, then you probably need to think about getting a new machine, anyway. They don't last forever. How many use-hours are on it?

Get a new machine and keep your M Series as a backup, and possibly as a travel blower, too.
I'm workin' on it.

I have a machine exactly like yours.
It is auto, quiet, works perfectly. You can run w o humidifier but I like it myself.
I have heard many say they miss the simplistic yet machines perceptible approach.
Mine goes from 4.0 to 8 usually in one night.
11 a few times. I sleep great using nasal pillow. Fortunately I have no breathing through mouth issues.

I couldn't agree more. IF he got the cpap from the VA he very likely also got the adapter (8yrs ago) and didn't know what to do with it all this time.

I also was thinking he should get a new cpap but sounds like he wants something completely diff.

Please don't take any of this the wrong way but I am also thinking that he hasn't been tracking his therapy at all and that from the choices he has been making I think it may not be as effective as it could be.

I would also suggest sleeping w/o the humidifier at home first and taking the chamber along bc as we know the environment changes and with either heat or AC the air can be extremely dry. But hey to each his own.

You were right. I was wrong. I didn't know about the plastic thing. Feel better? What the hell?

Pugsy said the same thing Palerider was saying, but he actually explained it and made himself clear. Palerider was snarky and just assumed his decree was sufficient. I didn't come here to start an argument. I just asked a simple question. Thank you Pugsy, for the answer.

Pugsy is not a "he", at least not by the pink "F" in her profile.
I have one, too, but have been thought to be a guy by an unobservant person.
Not that it matters . . .

YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY IS STUCK!. I meant carry-on. I'd rather not go into where I travel, but it's not to any of those places you mentioned, and I don't have to worry much about luggage allowances. I didn't have a luggage problem. I had a space problem.

Yea; a small plastic adapter - got it. Will order it. I didn't buy the machine. It was issued to me by the VA 8 years ago. I probably lost the little piece in the two moves I have made since then.

I have no idea how many use hours are on it. I didn't even know that was a thing. The VA said "Here's your machine. Pick a headgear. Here's how to wear it. Here's how to turn it on. Have a nice life." It's the VA.

Besides, CPAP machines aren't something I spend a lot of time thinking about. I used to feel like crap and keep my wife awake with my snoring. Since I've been wearing my CPAP, I feel better, and my wife says I never snore anymore. I'd say that's success.

Tracking my therapy? How do you do that? I feel better and I don't snore anymore. I was under the impression that was a positive indication. Guess not...maybe. I didn't exactly get CPAP 101 from the VA. What do you mean "the choices he has been making", and why are you talking about me like I'm not reading this? I'm interested in how you know I've been making bad choices, what, specifically, those choices are, and how I can make better ones in the future.

As far as the dry air; I have been using this machine for 8 years at home and abroad without a humidifier in some *extremely* arid environments. I'm good.

We are all different. Some people have never used a humidifier.
Others think yer nutz if you don't.
Please ignore those who judge you because you are a little different.

Wow. Okay. I'm new here. Pugsy, thank you ma'am for your help, and for taking the time to explain the problem to me. I aologize for not instinctively knowing every little detail about this new-to-me forum, and not noticing the tiny pink "F". You shall forever be known to me as female, and a helpful one at that.

Anyway, thanks all, especially Pugsy. Get an adapter. Problem solved.

No problem. I often get called a "he" and sometimes worse than that.
Doesn't bother me except I get to chuckle a little bit. I don't even bother correcting people when they say he/him and they are talking about me. I figure that eventually they will realize what the M and F means in the profile. It's not a big deal to me at all.

Glad you were able to sort out your issue rather easily. Just a little inexpensive adapter and you get to cut your cpap size in half. Win-win.

Those teeny tiny cpaps...almost everyone I read about the people are complaining about the noise.
Now if someone doesn't care about the noise (take their hearing aids out ) I suppose going tiny wouldn't be a problem but for others...when you go tiny you have to give up something so people need to be aware that there is always a trade off of some sort.
