Resmed F20 (new)
Resmed F20 (new)
Hello,
I have just ordered the new Resmed F20 airfit from my cpap supplier. I am comfortable wearing a medium for the Resmed Quattro. I have heard that the new mask runs bigger? Would a large in the F20 be like a medium in the quattro?
Also, has anyone liked or not liked the mask?
Thanks in advance for any input

Re: Resmed F20 (new)
I ran into the same problem. I have worn the Med Quattro for many years and wanted to try the F20. I started with the F20 Med and found that it was a little narrow. I just received my Lg and the one night I wore it found that it was a little high on the nose and may cause small leaks near the eye. I need to wear it a few nights before I decide to keep using it or go back to my trusty Quattro. Over the years I have tried several masks and have always gone back to the Quattro.Hexfly wrote:Hello,

I take a small in other full face masks I have used, but needed a medium in this mask. You can download a copy of the sizing chart and see how what size you actually need before you order one.

I wear a medium Quattro so I ordered the medium F20. I noticed it just a tad smaller than the Quattro but I love it. The only thing is my wife said it makes a loud noise at times. I am a side sleeper and since the exhaust ports are now directed to the sides I think that when I get buried in my pillow it makes the noise. Anyway to please her I went back to my Quattro for the time being, going to do some investigating on the weekend...just my take on the new F20. enjoy it.Hexfly wrote:Hello,

Re: Resmed F20 (new)
Thank you for the replies.
I started out with the f10 and had issues with leaking. The quattro has been awesome to me. I just hate the forehead thing. Hoping this one works well. It will be fun to try something new.
When I started my CPAP, I was getting AHIs of 2-5. All of a sudden I am getting 0.4-1.9 most nights. I am dreaming...getting up early feeling rested. Not sure why the improvement all of a sudden but I am loving it. Just thought I would share my success.

The F20 is certainly louder than the Quattro. The F20 vent is actually pretty nice in terms of the pattern of the air holes, but it's louder, even when it's not hitting the covers. With my tube management, the tube is over my head and makes the air spill out mostly downward which is both noisier, and colder. The quattro is virtually silent by comparison, with its excellent upward facing vent. I still like the F20 quite a bit though with regard to fit and leaks.knothead wrote:I wear a medium Quattro so I ordered the medium F20. Re: Resmed F20 (new)
Also a Quattro user who switched to F20. I wear a medium in both and find medium on the F20 to be fine for me. The silicone is a bit stiffer than the Quattro, but I got used to it. What I like about the F20 is that I find I don't need to strap it down so tightly. It acts sort of like a balloon in that the higher the pressure goes the more the seal balloons out on to my face and maintains the seal. The Quattro I find I really need to put it on tight to prevent blow outs especially once the silicon wears in and gets soft.
Re: Resmed F20 (new)
Airquotes, that is exactly why I wanted it. Glad to hear it doesn't have to be as tight. Although I love the quattro, by morning, it sometimes gets really uncomfortable on the back of neck with the headgear. I have it strapped tight! But it does work.
Can't wait to get my new mask! Any day now!

Re: Resmed F20 (new)...PLEASE HELP
I was fitted for the F10 (size M) the day of my sleep study and slept amazing, but when they came to deliver my machine and mask they felt I would prefer the upgraded newer model the F20. Jeez this thing hurts around my cheek bone area. I have to seal it tight to fit my medium/heavy face. My nose is not narrow. I have a large and it fits below my crease more near the bottom of my chin.(and I do not have a long face. more chubby and round.) I think this thing depends on your face structure cause dam my face hurts and I don't sleep worth crap. you can have your magnets just let me sleep will you.
Ps my Cpap pressure is 12 and I do get more comfort if I turn the compression to 3 or 4
I think if you have a long skinny face get a large....fat round face get a medium.

Re: Resmed F20 (new)...PLEASE HELP
Dearree, you should contact your DME supplier as soon as possible. Many DME have a 30 exchange program which will provide a new mask at no cost. Even if it's been longer than 30 days, contact them anyway. A properly fitted mask shouldn't hurt. Unfortunately, finding a proper fitting mask can be challenging. If you think the F10 was a good fit, ask for one. You might be able to ask the lab where you got your sleep study for help. Usually they have several types of masks on hand and they might be inclined to help you choose and fit one. Ask your doctor's nurse for help in contacting the lab. And it does sound as if your F20 is too big. The bottom of a full face mask should rest in the indentation between the lip and chin and should not have to be more than snug to the face.dearree wrote:I was fitted for the F10 (size M) the day of my sleep study and slept amazing, but when they came to deliver my machine and mask they felt I would prefer the upgraded newer model the F20. UPDATE.....Well, I have worn the F20 for a week. there are several things I like about it, but, comfort wise I still like the Quattro better. I'll keep the F20 and try it again in a few months.LSAT wrote:I ran into the same problem. I have worn the Med Quattro for many years and wanted to try the F20. Re: Resmed F20 (new)
I've recently been giving an F20. I find the fit (small) ok for me, I am female with a fat face and it seems to be ok. What I hated about it initially was whistling from the top arch of vent holes. I've manged to fix it by taping over a few of the central holes which seems to interrupt the air flow and stop the whistle.
Re: Resmed F20 (new)
Okay, glad I looked this up. I just got my F20 yesterday, I know the exhaust it different than my Mirage Quatro, just wanted to see if it was me, glad it's not. I do like the fit of the F20, and the fact I don't have to remove the mask if I need a minute awake. Putting on the old mask was always a bit difficult when half a sleep! Thanks for posting! Well, after using the F20 for two nights, the exhaust sound isn't an issue, I guess I just had to get used to it, last night was fine!linuxman wrote:The F20 is certainly louder than the Quattro. Re: Resmed F20 (new)
I really don't notice any noise from the mask, but I wear hearing aids during the day. My wife and I both use the F20 mask. The air vents through holes around the elbow and blow straight out. If it hits the edge of the covers, it will make noise.
