Bipap machine help
Bipap machine help
Good morning all, thanks for reading this.
I had a system One bipap A/V through insurance.
Unfortunately I lost my insurance and am waiting for the VA to get me setup with one, which could be a couple months.
I have found a
system one bipap pro biflex. It's used, $300 in great condition. Would it be okay to use this for the interim, even though it doesn't have the S/T mode (which is on my scrip)?
Thanks everyone!

Re: Bipap machine help
W/o knowing your history or why ST was ordered for you AND assuming you know your pressure needs and how to setup the bipap I will say it is prob better than nothing.
That said I am willing to bet if you check Craigslist and this forum you may be able to find an ST machine.

Re: Bipap machine help
Your current machine has a backup rate that is not available in the BiPAP Pro. One way to look for a Philips Respironics BiPAP S/T or Resmed S9 VPAP ST or Resmed Aircurve 10 ST is to search on SearchTempest.com which allows you to search many locations at once.

Re: Bipap machine help
Sorry for delay, and little info, I was posting from my phone in the middle of the night while half asleep.
The $300 machine is on CL locally(ish). I've searched CL for my entire state and this is the only machine that is closest to my old machine and within my price range (~$300-350)
I have opioid-induced central sleep apnea and OSA.
I know my prescription and how to program the machine (I can find the clinician manuals online).
I've decided to buy it. I'll give some feedback afterwards. Thanks for the advice!

The central sleep apnea will probably require a backup rate. They will not be treated with pressure.Mandark wrote:Sorry for delay, and little info, I was posting from my phone in the middle of the night while half asleep.

Re: Bipap machine help
I am a bit perplexed. Why make this thread and ask questions if you were just going to buy the machine anyway? Without the S/T mode your central apneas will not be treated. A regular bi-level spontaneous mode is better than nothing, obviously, but does that really cut it when it comes to your health?

Re: Bipap machine help
mandark, you should start a thread asking for a bilevel ST or ASV machine. Several member have sold these machines on a surprisingly regular basis. Also send a PM to Grayghost4, as he is one of the better sellers here. Finally, what state are you in? The Google-foo is strong in some of us, and we might be able to do better.
FWIW, $300 is okay for a fixed bilevel (pro) machine, but not great. Repeating, without a backup rate, the bilevel will not treat central apnea. It makes a lot more sense to put your money towards a machine that will work.
This thread has a lot of ASV and ST machines listed currently: viewtopic/t114976/ASV-Machine.html

Re: Bipap machine help
Thanks. I'm just getting around to seeing replies again.
I went ahead and canceled the deal for the machine on CL. I'll go ahead and make a post looking for one.
I'm just suffering so bad without my machine right now, it's starting to affect my home life and my schoolwork, so I was trying to come up with a fast solution.
Thanks for the advice again! Have a great day everyone!

Re: Bipap machine help
I know I keep posting questions and such, I'm still learning the lingo of the machines.
Would this machine be suitable for what I need? http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/hab/5946914019.html
Thanks!

Re: Bipap machine help
You didn't mention how many hours on this S8. But the S8 being an older machine I would think you will have some room to bargain with the seller. Keep in mind this is 2 generation back now.mandark321 wrote:Would this machine be suitable for what I need?
Re: Bipap machine help
It may pay to expand your search and ask for shipping...make sure you know what you need, these are resmed st machines, I'm not familiar with the older machine you mentioned.
