Need data card and reader for Resmed S8 vantage

Post by Woody » Thu Dec 08, 2016 7:27 pm

I just picked up one with almost no usage but of course it didn't
come with the data card or reader. Any one know where I can get this
cheap ?

You might find a card, but card readers for that machine are scarce and expensive.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -cpap.html $59

I can't even find the smart card at any price.

Personally, I would just be happy with the data on the LCD screen if it were me.
You might check EBay. Sometimes the smart cards show up there.

Here's a link to a way to read the card.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31363&p=268802&hilit=+ACR38#p268802

If you need further information, here's a broader search link.

search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&keywords=%2BA ... n&start=15

You're also going to need a version of ResScan to download the data.
Depending on what computer operating system you're using, it may or may not present other issues.
I hope you didn't pay much for that machine because it's probably going to be lots of work to get the data from it.
Newer/better machines are readily available at very reasonable prices and use more common components.

Pugsy, I will just go with the data on the LCD then. But Cpap.com has a USB cable to hook
the unit directly to the computer for about $55 . And it looks like this S8 will be a step up
from the old style remstar auto , the style discontinued in 2007. Oh! I am eligible for a new
machine but don't know how much of a problem it would be to talk my DR. into a good machine
instead of the brick they gave me way back 1/27/2007 .

I have the original Resmed card reader for the S8 but at the moment I can't locate the card that I have. Misplaced...

You can get it at apneaboard. You have to sign up then you can have access to the private files section. http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/

If you've followed the instructions at apneaboard, register, etc. and request the link. It will arrive in an email from healthcareworker. I think there is a little delay from request until receipt, but I don't remember how long.

Thanks I got it to work after all. I was having a little trouble setting
up a Gmail account so I could email him for the download link. I know
the s8 is an old design but it's kind of funny this one I picked up looks
like it's never been used. When I looked in the clinical menu I found
it only had 13 total blower hrs !

Did you get a card and reader?
OKdoky's link looks good for a card:
There are non-proprietary readers that will work as well, but it gets a little tricky to pick them out. It has to be done by model and serial number. Easiest to identify is the branded reader.
Your post above mentioned a usb cable from cpap.com, but I see that is the reader itself for 55$, that's not bad. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -cpap.html

No couldn't find a reader but Cpap.com has an adapter to let you hook a computer
directly to the cpap and get the data that way. And as I have an old laptop computer
I have no other use for this will be very convent. Any way I will probably just get
Medicare to get me a new one next year but hate to go through the hassle of providing
the compliance data.
